1/30 was my weapon of choice, got a few keepers (two of them above are 1/30 iirc) out of those experiments, so that was cool.
As you say though, loads of room to play around. Fast shutter speeds are just as effective (if not more so) as they are clearly moving at pace due to the angles and...
Seriously? Those 130 must get about a bit as they're not exactly uncommon, I can think of at least 20-30 or so that I've seen in the metal, on forums, or in magazines etc.
Only this month EVO were talking about the possibility of other Renaultsport models getting similar treatment in future due...
Incredibly hard, they're moving all over the place, epic amounts of dust everywhere, one moment they are flying at 60mph, another they are doing about 7mph around a corner.
It didn't help that I've only got a stupidly long lens (120-300) as something in the range of 50-150 would have been...
Took a break from Combe today to visit the local round of the ACU British MMX Championship just down the road near Frome.
I'm still picking dust out of my teeth, nose, mouth and hair now, but it was worthwhile, cracking day, a few pics...
It's nothing too out of the ordinary, several classes including Sports Prototypes, Highly Modified Saloons, Production Sports etc. He's pretty much in the middle of the pack, some of Caterhams are a fair bit quicker than his Evo, and a few are a few seconds slower.
Not really any different to...
Great vid! Very amusing.
That camera you're using appears to be getting quite popular, seen quite a few roof mounted on Castle Combe trackdays, marshals/scrutineering don't appear to have an issue with them.
Used it for 20mins in the morning, not too successful this time out though as it was so hot, stuck to the 1.4 for the rest of the morning. I think it will be more suited to the 90% of days when it's cold and wet.
Last shot shows that even the 1.4x was finding way too much heat haze, no reason...
A few piccies from last time out, was rubbing nicely on right-handers...
Not particularly quick yet but not too many new cars show up quick from the off. Asuming he doesn't bin it I imagine it will be quick after a while, will need to gain at least 3 seconds per lap to be competitive in...
I spent a gorgeous (free) morning down at Combe today, Club Lotus had booked the circuit and the paddock was full of pretty much every type of Lotus going, including my favourite car of all time...
Plenty of action on track, as well...
Considering the piano black front-end is now the Renaultsport signature (also see Megane 250), I'm guessing...quite a few.
Would love to know what market research they did on it, seems to be 95% hate on most forums.
Not a fan of all the fussy bits up front, but that back end is the devils work, gorgeous.
Would never have even considered Blue (if I could afford one), but now I'm thinking it's definitely the way forward, love it. Will be interesting to see how the different colour sales pan out.
I think a big thanks is in order. Contacted by somebody from WMC today as they want to use the sideways Beemer shot on the cover of the next regulations, awesome! I assume they found them through yourself, so cheers!
Not bad as it was literally my first ever autocross shot they chose!
I would go with shutter priority, maybe try 1/160 or something for panning shots. At least then you can concentrate on the panning whilst the camera sorts out exposure.
They are on Smugmug, not Flickr.
Can you view this...(nice and small as not to disrupt the thread too much)
So now I really want to ask why you can't view Flickr or Smugmug, but can see Photobucket! Seems a bit odd.
Hehe, that was pretty amusing. TCs are good but imo the shorter you shoot, the more creative you are. Saying that, I imagine for your line of work it would probably guarantee a few more shots if you had an extra few mm to work with.
Oulton would be a 400 mile round trip for me, so that would...
I sold my 172 Cup to buy photography equipment (and towards a house deposit), where's your dedication?! ;) £1k Hyundai ownership ftw, my lens is worth waaaay more than my car!
Great shots, love the bonnet one with the lights up.
Getting an MX-5 myself after the summer, can't wait. Never owned a RWD car so thought I would try it out instead of going down the 172 route again.
