it does..... you can add apps to it in the notifications section in iPhone settings, I've added email, twitter and Facebook to mine. incidently, my iPhone 4 is noticeably slower since upgrading to 5, even accessing the settings menu takes 3-4 seconds to come up.

Problem is, you can't use quick focus, it defaults to live view focus while shooting which is dog slow and goes searching before it focus's, it really is terrible. Vids on YouTube confirm it's the same as the other cameras, like the 60d and the 7d.

So you've used the autofocus while shooting video on it? It's the same as the 7d which I have and it's terrible, takes ages, makes loads of noise, it just has to be manual focus at the moment.
