Wouldn't surprise me if something like this happened. More way of them to rob people of money. Can imagine them charging to switch phones to another person when sold etc.
They used to do 500MB for £5 or 750MB for £10, but that seems to have disappeared off their website options now. I get unlimited at the moment but it was a freebie and runs out with my contract next month.
Be are usually highly regarded for speeds. I was with them before I moved house and couldn't fault them. If your having problems with lag, could it be if you're using wireless?
I found this and had to plug a LAN cable in, solved all my problems.
Can't comment on the mobile repair companies, but if you want a full correction from the body shop I'd say its fair. I'd tell her you want it doing there so you know its right and if she doesn't pay you'll involve the insurers.
As said its probably down to the speed / signal? IE has a habit of hanging like that when its struggling to do something. Instead of timing out it just crashes.
Try using firefox or similar as a test.
