May as well push for the N97 instead of the N96, unless you don't like touchscreen. There's also the N86 if avaliable, not sure what the differences are between the N96 and 86 bar an 8mp camera.
I sit close like you, everyday infact, as you never know when someone wants a blast ;) I feel more in control of the car.
Bit of a bugger getting in and out though, I twatted my knee on the steering column this morning.
Another one I tried:
Try this
1.) Open My Computer.
2.) Go to Tools -> Folder Options, and click on File Types.
3.) Find the extension of the file in question (XLS, DOC, etc.)
4.) Highlight the extension, and click \"Advanced.\"
5.) Highlight the \"Open\" Action, and click \"Edit\”
6.)...
In my computer/explorer etc:
Tools, folder options, view, untick 'automatically search for network folders and printers'
Done.
Worked in my experience anyway. Same issue, fine at HO but slow at remote sites, even if the file was local on the laptop!
From what I've read it doesn't show up if the cruise control/limiter is switched on, also if there are other faults lit up on the dash.
I hope the mechanic wasn't planning on using the oil ok message to check the oil? lol
Best bet is to take it to an independant specialist like birchdown (chishire way I think) Alot cheaper than renault and they will advise what the problems are. If you suspect the noise is a tensioner/idler on the belts i'd get them both changed asap.
Most probably the battery has died. Does it recognise there's a battery in it? Sometimes just taking it out and putting it back in fixes it as the connections seem to lose contact.
Why is everyone banging on about the repair and resale value? Its his pride and joy and he's getting it repaired by a garage to a high standard (hopefully). I'm guessing he won't be selling it anytime soon, and when he does sell it, whats to say he won't tell the buyer if its had work done etc.
I'd have been happy to, but boss didn't want to invalidate the warranty lol.
Don't think we were expecting the labour costs to be that much! Hours job at the most I'd have thought.
