There is an engine number on the V5 but it doesn't relate to the number stamped on the block from what I can tell. Blocks have F4R736 or 738 on them depending if it's 172 or 182.
The Gates kit is a good as OEM so no issues regards to use in the 750mc Clio 182 series. Using a 172 engine may do though.... You'd need to double check the regulations.
The ones i've seen have been reliable.
The 250 engine is far superior to the previous.
Shame they didn't carry on development of it with the new Mk4 Megane.
Save the £5k and spend it on something else.
The Mk2 Megane isn't that much of an upgrade in the grand scheme and they're certainly no quicker unless you start messing with them.
I just heard a pop noise earlier in the lap and didn't think anything of it, then it started going heavy-normal-heavy so i came in and saw that it had blew the seal out behind the pulley.
RE tyres, when you come in from a session check the pressures before you go back out. Set them a bit lower...
