It get there information from the DVLA which isnt always correct it seems there only doing a few letters at a time not to get to many people going to renault at one time.
That is very poor if it hasn't been lubricated as every dealer was kept well imformed about this.
theres one under the battery and one under the gearbox. open the bonnet and try and shake the engine with her hands if it moves a bit, i would say gearbox mount if it moves freely dog bone mount, does this knocking occur at over 5K rpm?
Does the car turn over (as in go to start) or do u turn the key and nothing happen? if it turns over and over it will be TDC sensor although the older ones are better. if it does nothing it would say starter motor or connections.
you have to have the car surpored on stand and undo both sides to get the springs out make sure you surport the beam though with a trolley jack or something.
looks ok, i been toying with the idea of doing the gear knob insert/steering wheel badge, i have some spare inserts so will get round to doing them soon.
sounds like i have a 172 of my own i hate these kind of faults, if i had a problem like that i would have used some parts off a fourcourt car to see if anything changed before i said it was anything at fault.
They have said they have test the loom but which bit from the throttle pedal to injection computer or to the pedal, the resistance of the loom may change with temperture. I know they have properly used renault fault finding on this. These are the hardest faults to deal with.
That looks mint i love them 16V one i wanted one but had to settle for a 1.6 8V Si. Wheels should stay or get some ph1 172 wheels. Lowering on eibach sportline springs although there a bit expensive but very good.
Did it bring up throttle pedal potentionmeter fault? Just say its happen again under the same condidtions as before, your not very happy and would like them to fix it as you have just spent properly around £300-400 there having done what they thought would fix it. But what ever you do dont be...
on sports they dont lower as much as they say on the site for some reason the non sport models lower more. i had them on standard shocks on both my 172 and 1.6
