So im bascially going to have to replace every consumable,
every semi consumable and other parts in my F7R valver.
I was hoping someone could give me some advice what parts i should be getting
and whats just over priced crud??
im looking at getting the following...
haha i fear you may be right :(
im sure she'll work fine as long as you bump it!
ill just come kangarooing down and call on the CS might to get me going again! lol
i really want to be there,
ive finally got her looking how i want!
shes actually worth looking at now,
just not driving :(
well im pretty sure its not the battery,
had the lights on,
stereo going,
and blowers on full,
and nothing gave any sign of complaint.
ive still taken the battery out and put it on charge.
can you replace just the relay for the start motor??
or do you have to replace the entire starter...
I do hope everyone on here slating APEX has acutally used them, and used similar lowering springs for comparason. otherwise youre just needlessly spouting someone elses possibly invalid opinion and doing nothing but further spreading this stigma on APEX springs
i had apex on my last clio...
i might give mine a good clean before i go,
depends if shes behaving or not
and unlike you, mine will hopefully stay clean for the 4mile journey to southend seafront ;)
oh really??
i really thought a knackered TDC sensor left the car just spinning over and over and over without catching??
hmm, that might tie in with my misfiring problem
I go to get in my car this morning.
Turn the key first click......radio comes on fine
Second click....everything comes to life and you can hear the pump prime,
Third click.......nothing.
little whine from the starter motor, and you can hear the fuel pump loose power,
but no crank??
its been...
on a mk3 i have no idea,
id have THOUGHT you could go down 60mm with no trouble as theyre quite a bit bigger than the mk2s
but please dont hold me to that,
as said by others, best bet is to get some nice 15/16s, theyll fit the arches abit nicers than 17s and you can lower it more!
shame that...
that would may a bit of sense, as i cleaned the plugs up among other things, and the problem went away for a week.
however when i pulled out a HT lead, the wells looked pretty empty of oil (though i only did this with one)
its very intermittent, going along a smooth bit of road and it wont...
Anyone got any more advice on this??
so far ive replaced the spark plugs,
cleaned the distributor cap,
cleaned the coil pack
clean the TPS
checked the earth straps
and the problem persists,
im going to have it plugged into a fault reader this weekend to see if it comes up with any results...
ill give this a go,
but i cant see how the plugs would have got any water on them,
theyve only been in there a week.
also going to clean up the TSP, TDC and coilpack.
then move on to replacing them all along eith the HT's
:( got to love mk1 ownership!
if you're not bothered about stance, then your money would go a hell of a lot further buying shocks and springs!
Koni adjustable shocks + eibach springs will come to around £600
and that will perform a lot better than a set of coilovers that cost the same amount (e.g. Gaz)
however you cant...
i dont think so,
ive heard something about a big meet down southend seafront.
please dont hold me to that though!
however if its shockingly poor, we will head up lakeside way
so youre saying that oil is getting out of the camcover (rocker cover??) and into the sparkplug wells, causing them to not fire properly yes?
and a new gaskets should solve this??
thanks for the advice btw.
ive just noticed, it only happens badly when going over bumps,
hit a pothole and it...
its a valver mate, no coilpack on it,
ive cleaned all the distributer out though,
i was thinking TDC sensor last night, i may have a look today!
cheers
please help!
i changed the spark plugs and went of a long drive,
(few short blasts of acceleration)
and the problem seemed to clear,
however i went over a pot hole last night and its started again! :(
seems to be mainly in the wet!
tyres are band new as well,
and its hand all the wheel bearings with any movement replaced also,
how does geometry differ from tracking??
as i was going to have the tracking done when i get new rodends,
should i have the geometry checked instead? or aswell??
it needs to be dropped,
and large drop prefs,
then smoked side repeators,
CC
and RS grill,
then a very good clean! lol
its on the edge of being a very nice car, just needs the above touches imo
Ive used T1R's
didnt like them at all, theyre soft compound that dont offer overly good grip in the dry,
also agree with gally that they are very non-porgressive, theyll have grip until a certain point, then its all gone!
theyre a midrange/budget tyre, if thats what youre after, go right...
have to say the same as everyone else, you need to go a lot lower then 60mm to pull off the euro look,
it will be coilies or airbags for you!
do you want to go for the simple lowered to the floor on a nice set of wheels look??
theres my old baby. wouldnt have really called it euro though.
Upon acceleration, car is fine,
When letting off and coasting, the car seems to feel unstable, like it wants to jump into the nearest ditch, pulling all over the road in different directions.
When hard braking it is even worse, have to really be on the ball if you break hard as it can pull...
Sorry if im being a n00b for asking,
but i can't be bothered to sift through all the posts!
What time is the actual meet??
last time i checked it was down the seafront, but couldnt find an exact time.
Also, ROB. do you will want that gearstick gator that i couldnt find for the last meet...
you may still have to remove the rear weather guards tbh,
i had to on mine when it wasnt lowered at all, that was only with 3 people in the back,
remove the guards (takes 5 minutes) and there is all the room in the world!
rip the arces out, and you can get the rear very low,
the fronts i had lowered about 80-90mm, but it was rubbing rather a lot on the inner wing.
at the end of the day, you have two options.
springs or coilovers,
coilovers you can just keep lowering it further and further until you find...
ive said it before,
the stance is rediculous and stupidly low
and thats why i fecking love it mate!
reminds me of my old 1.2, get it on the floor and the car will be remembered,
people around my area know my car more than me!
however, if you ARE a learner, loose the L plates
if youre NOT...
