Without commenting on value for money,
what are the best tyres to go for??
on a modded valver that does mainly country road blasts,
looking at contisport 2's, but at £370 for a set, i thought id do some shopping first,
so what can people recommend? spending <£100 per corner?
thanks
alex
you can go pretty low,
eventually the antiroll bar will hit the chassis rails, after which it wont go any lower, and it will knock like a c**t!
but by this point my bumper was almost on the floor,
mick (white clio van) removed his ARB to go that bit lower (on airbags), but im sure it will...
lol no arch rubbing because you could smuggle a family of imagrants into the country with that arch gap!
personally i think clios look silly so high off the floor,
and £55 for partworns says it all! i find myself replacing my front tyres once a year,
part worn a539's £55 a corner on 17s...
14"s with some poke, get them bitches right out the arches!
then lower it all the way to the floor!
failing that, as everyone said, 15s
tyres are cheap,
alloys are cheaper,
they weight a lot less,
your car will sit lower,
you wont have arch rubbing,
17s make your brakes look tiny under the...
I swear its any excuse for a pic you with you jord!
ive not got so much roll cage,
but ill be keeping the inside of the doors,
hopefully ill be looking around 900kg :D
sounds fine to me dude,
i used to get it in my old 1.2, its condensation that comes about with too many short journeys,
when you have a large amount, and spots of mayo on the dipstick, starting thinking headgasket! lol
So far the following has been removed
spare wheel and cage
boot carpet
Rear Seats
Rear Door Cards
Parcel Shelf and everything that holds it up,
head lining
sunvisors/grab handles
rear seatbelts
B pillar covers
Front seatbelts
A pillar Covers
lower dash console
Kick pannels (that run underneith...
basically this,
you clamp an entire coil together using 4bolts and 2plates!
fantastically pickey, and doesnt look like something id like on my car! lol
surely it would just burn off?? without setting the wrap on fire,
much like it would burn off if there was no wrap on it what so ever??
im guessing everyone else just sprayed it with clear stuff, hence why i thought it wasnt sprayed
really?? most of the ones, if not all of the ones ive seen have never been wrapped, i though the stuff was speciallt develeoped not to catch fire under any temperature??
ebay mate, came with a few metal cable ties, but not nearly enough, 10m of the stuff was arount the £8 mark!
cheap springs will be useless, go for branded springs, (eibach, apex, spax, gmax etc)
Those spring clamps look scarey to me! i wouldnt want to touch a spring with such a poxy clamp fighting the force of the spring!
id sooner just cut the spring in half!
best value is the rokkor coilover kit...
i spend money on tints once, tore them off a month or so later because i hated the look, (unless youre going to tint the fronts too)
THIS! +1
Best mod i ever did to my ph1 non-sport!
well jord's work put mine to shame, so i undid some of the wrapping at made it abit better!
still not 100% on painting it, i quite like the colour it is personally!
tbh, the only thing i really dislike about the car is the wheels,
all the other mods are fine, theyre your choice.
but speedline turinis are fantastic wheels!!
and thats not just cliosport, they are just very well made wheels, ive been to a few FIA european rallies, and so many people there...
looks like you did a much better job that me jord!
i might spray it, its not going on until probs the new year so ill probs do it at some point over the christmas!
did it make any difference??
or just meant you didnt need the head sheilds!
i wouldnt go for 17s again, i did first time, and ended up getting rid of them.
go for some 15s by speedline,
2118s or turinis
look through the threads of non-sports to get some inspiration!
the heatsheilds in valvers look dirty though!
plus i really like the look tbh!
the manifold was due to go in the car when the weather looked up so it was just sitting around, £10 mod.
I heat wrapped my williams manifold and downpipe!
ive never done any heat wrapping before so i think it went very well!
ive done it so i can do away with all the grotty heat sheilds because they look hideous!
plus it may have some small benifits! so i thought what the hell!
quick heads up dude,
larey wheels dont go down well on cliosport. more subtle mods FTW!
looks tidy, very nice colour,
id personally go for wheels more like andy, because that is very very nice :D
