Are they sat correctly between the shock and spring cap?

Jack up the front, both sides. And see which one has a lot of movement. If its the passenger side, you need to drain the gearbox oil too.

Same as mine mate. Think it's probably down to the harsh ride they give. Smashes up the bearings, as the springs/shock absorb next to no road defects.

Black smoke is normal for an old diesel isn't it? White smoke is coolant/water Blue smoke is oil Black smoke is un burnt fuel So I was always told. My dads Saab v6 diesel smoke like f**k under heavy acceleration

Most specialist won't fit parts you provide. So they will have to provide the filter and oil. Warranty purposes I think.

You won't have the top cap if on coilovers. (Bit pictured above) That's part of a standard shock set up. Is it not part of the bracket the the driver side driveshaft goes through?
