For the sake of someone else having a similar problem I will just finish by saying it was the ballast after all. Thanks for everyone's help.

See I did check the fuses and they seemed fine. Maybe I will change them anyway if that's what you're suggesting. Are you talking about the ones in the side of the passenger door opening?

Erm I don't think so. We didn't make it to the 1st location and I was in a mates Fabia VRS. Think I did see your car (going off you avatar) in the Morrisons car park though.

Ok so i've swapped ballasts over and it didn't switch the problem and i've also tried a new ballast. Everything is connected and no I have completely run out of ideas!

I went last week and it was such a good turn out. Only problem was people getting lost on the way to the next location. Will probably be going again though.

I've got a 182 and one of my headlights has gone. Today i've taken the bumper off and headlight unit out to change with a new bulb and it's still not working. Anyone got any idea how to sort this out. Can't believe i've had so much trouble with a light! And to add insult to injury, my jack...

FFS! Managed to get the bumper off fine and changed the bulbs over but even with a new bulb my headlight still didn't come on. Now what is the problem? This is starting to do my head in!

Ah, I have swapped mine numerous times and changed bulbs in each. Like you say, the fault moved with it. But I decided to clean and sand the connecting pins a bit and now only my brake light doesn't work so i'm gonna give it a bit more of a clean to see if that helps as it has helped the other...

No. Problem after problem after problem with my car.

My lights don't seem to be working only on the left side at the back. Had a look and swapped bulbs to other side and the bulbs are fine. Problem is...the connections from the wiring to the light cluster seems to be slightly rusty where the pins connect. Where would I be best looking to buy...

Ok thanks, I have limited tools to use so any job is more than straight forward for me ha. Will look into it but no point doing anything until the bulbs arrive.
