so it goes from v v slow to v slow
How much does it cost to achieve this?
No offence but I would save your money and enjoy your car for what it is for now.
Get something quicker next
Just had another read of it
Quote:
Backpressure is the restriction of the exhaust gases that are produced by your engine while they are being released through your exhaust system.
End Quote
Surely this is crap. The back pressure is caused by the restriction on gas flow in the...
That's right, there is no vosa check on the quality of the work, just on it's identification.
Just get it inspected by AA/RAC and you shouldn't have a problem. At least you know it's been repaired unlike with a non-cat car which could have been damaged and repaired without the insurance co's...
Is this for looks and sound or power?
If it's aesthetic then whatever you fancy.
If it's power you're after then a de-cat is relatively good value for money. Leave the exhaust though as you're more likely to make a loss
simple answer,
accept that your mod didn't work and either put up with it or put the original back on.
There is so little to be gained in performance from exhaust systems these days
Edit: Is it just me or does that article fail to explain anything? Looks like sales tosh
Wasn't there a good reason Renault kept the exhaust hidden? Aerodynamics through the diffuser or something? Maybe the chav spoiler is to make up for this?!
The exhaust does LOOK better but the rest looks s**t imo. None of those stick on parts look like they belong on the car
Your renewal quote probably won't be competitive as they try it on and hope you don't look elsewhere.
Shop around man, I'm sure you'll get it cheaper than that
Will he not get a courtesy car in the mean time?
They normally make an initial low offer and hope you accept it. Tell him to refuse it and demand market value. They'll normally pay what it's worth in the end.
Declared value means nothing though.
How long it will take is anybody's...
This must be the first time you've been done or else you would never have left all that stuff un your car. You don't think it will happen to you but it's far more common than you realise.
I didn't even bother replacing my stereo after mine got done. Nothing of any value whatsoever is left...
northy, do you know if they need to be soldered in? I don't want to mess around with things I have no idea about.
All I know is my engine is quite heavily modified and running the standard ecu and I don't want to spend hundreds on a re-map when the car is only worth a grand or so.
cheers

This is bound to be a re-post but I've searched and can't find anything so feel free to post in the thread URL if you like.

Any thoughts? What about the claim they can be mapped to suit certain mods?
Cheers
P.S I know...
Are you speaking from experience?
Anyone else have one?
Surely if they're any good then everyone would have one. I can't believe I haven't heard of them before.

Any thoughts...
This sounds exactly like what happened to my 16v this morning!
Dash lit up but nothing happened, just a quiet whirring noise.
Are these connections easily reached on a 16v (mk1).
you're all wrong.
you get 2 weeks grace and I know from experience. Don't leave it any longer though as they will know and you will get an automatic fine. No points though as it's not a driving offence.
I think I'll stick with the one I've got thanks. It's a little cheaper than yours matt but not a lot and comes with the same warranty.
I can't believe a used box costs so much when it could go pop in 6 months. Especially when you have to fork out over £100 for fitting, you're paying £300...
I'm in Bristol. I've tried the usual suspects on here and it seems these boxes are in short supply. I trust the garage I'm using and they'll guarantee it for 3 months.
The gearbox let go on my 16v at xmas and I've recently got it into a garage for repair. As the car needs a few other small jobs and I am on a tight budget, they've been searching around for a cheap box and come up with a used one from a reputable source.
However, even though this box was...
get it done dude!!
i wouldn't have left it that long and certainly wouldn't wait another 10k.
i thought 72k was for the first change and then every 40k or so after that.
