    Twitchy Cup

Hmmmmmm..... Ive noticed the same, but put it down to familiarisation with the car. After 4.5k of driving Im now just over the white-nuckle phase and am more used to the torque-steer and tramlining, and rather than fighting the car like I did at the start, driving the Cup quickly is now a more...

    New Cup owner

Eagle, 20 mins on track will cook most standard brake setups. Most trackdayers run 10-15 laps max before giving the car a breather! Pad n fluid upgrade is the way to go. Half the tyre tread gone in one day sounds about right! Fancy a battle round Anglesey Track sometime?

    EVO’s cup

My SERV and OIL light came on tonight, 3400 miles, checked the oil level and it was exactly half way between the dipstick markers. A cupfull of oil brought it back near the max and the warning light switched off. There was virtually no discolouration of the existing oil. Seems that Renault play...

    Cup Gone Mad!

Thanks for the info, mines been acting up lately from cold, revs take a while to settle down from about 2200 rpm, and flutters about while decreasing. Once warm its fine.

I never insured the Ibiza Cupra 16v for track days Rob, I just accepted the risk as the car was worth £2200 (Compo MO fit the Cup!). Im seriously considering insuring the Cup, the pearl-blue might be difficult to touch up...

Yes, I agree that the French "track-day rules of etiquette" seem a little laxed from the high standard we see in this country, and youd probably be black flagged and sent home if you tried some of the late overtaking manoeuvres seen on the clip, but some seem to forget that the whole point of...

    Knocking sound on my Cup

Mine too, low speed corners with roughish surface taken aggressively with about half a turn on the steering wheel. Ive been wondering what it is, could it be a "feature" of the cars?

    Release me, set me free...

Anyone else found their rear pads not releasing after the cars been standing in the rain for a few hours? I had to shunt the car back and forth 6 times while dragging / pushing the rear wheels on the tarmac before the pads let go with a bang. Amazing stuff, rust... and YES, I had released the...

    Power off oversteer

Viceroy, have you considered investing in a track day or airfield day? Hours of oversteer practice and plenty of non-harmful run-off space (usually). Loads of fun too...

    Renault Motorsport bits

Id be interested too. I fancy a pair of those air scoops and ducting to the calipers like the Cup racers have instead of fog lamps. Extra cooling might help on trackdays where as fog lamps wont...

    Anyone spanked their Cup yet!

Brakes? Nah theyre fine, its torque-steer, wheelspin and changing up "after the shift light / before the rev limiter" Im battling with :-) Anyone tried 205/40 x 16 on their Cup/172 yet?

    Running in...

Man at the garage said "Take it easy for 100 miles". Handbook says "Take it easy for 600 miles". I got to 150 miles "easy", then the car spoke to me by whispering "Release me, set me free...". So as the car was begging for it, I obliged. It was so rewarding... Some thoughts - accelerate in...

    Water in my Cup

While poking around under the carpets, looking for suitable rollcage mountings i noticed the soundproofing felt behind the drivers seat was damp. After further investigation involving lifting the rear seat I noticed a little mud, sand and water gathered around the 3 rear suspension mounting...

    Cup upgrades!!

or... disconnect / remove all wiring to the seats, remove pre-tensioning devices, remove passenger airbag, fit race seats, 4 point harnesses and race steering wheel (removable, of course, for extra theft security). Then maybe fit a cage, but that probably means doing away with the rear seat...

Cup owners - What do you think so far

Got mine last Sat, done 650 miles since. Previous car was a SEAT Ibiza Cupra 16v, a lime coloured one, a survivor of 1500 trackday miles on Konis, Eibach & Yokohamas + strut braces. The Cup wins, easily. More high end power, more lower down torque, very sharp turn-in, compliant suspension...
