Mine went twice in 2 months when I had my 1.8RT. First time it was replaced by a local garage, second time when the AA came out to get me home they said get a proper renault one as they are a lot stronger and the clio was tough on clutch cables.

Desmondo, I thought that a car should be able to drive in a straight line with hands off the wheel ideally, but the torque steer causes the wheels to turn hence taking you into the damn hedge. Ok, in practice, most cars will end up in the hedge driving like this, but the point is the 172 seems...

I dont understand why some people dont seem to get this torque steer thing. Do tyres make that much of a difference. Just out of interest GeordiePaul, or anyone who doesnt get this torque steer, if you pulled away hard on a straight, flat bit of road without holding onto the steering wheel...

Im no expert on cars but my 172 wants to go all over the place under hard accelaration and braking. Dont know if its caused by the tyres or the dreaded "torgue steer" the 172 is supposed to suffer from.

While discussing with a mate whether to thrash an engine from day 1 or whether to break it in gently, ( not much of a discussion coz I havent a clue what he was talking about ), he said the following 2 things
Just be careful about not pushing car hard enough P. Some cars that are run in too...

1) The feeling when birmingham city got promoted to the premiership via the playoff final after 3 years of failing at the first hurdle!
2) driving around the lanes with a cd on and the sun out
3) that friday feeling when you leave work and know the weekend is ahead of you and its time to go to...

Cheers Scudetto. Seems a bit hit and miss. Some people have no problems, some people do. Just pot luck really by the look of things. Still, if you save £3K off uk list price, its still probably worth a bit of hassle.
