    wanna get a 197

Dear? Renault did the remap for free on mine, I just had to quote the relevant code off their system. I had the melting steering wheel too, that was replaced under warranty. The other thing I don't like about mine is not having a 7th gear (or a taller 6th). Fuel economy is crap but get a...

    R.A.C. rally photographs

it's my favourite too I think, the wind and rain were horrendous, I couldn't see properly due to water on the camera/glasses so had to completely guess the focus point etc... quite pleased how the pic came out considering.

    R.A.C. rally photographs

If there's some decent scenery around I try and include it to give a sense of where the rally was held and/or the conditions... there's no point doing full frame shots all the time, they'd all look the same :S And the night shots... I was stood approx one metre off the road for the Stig shot...

    Tempest Rally 2009

Depends on the event, a lot require you to provide evidence you are working for a newspaper/magazine although it seems that's not the case for the Tempest. I've got 4 days of rallying coming up starting tomorrow night in Yorkshire and finishing in Kielder on Monday afternoon :D

Do you feel the need to "prove" yourself in your Renaultsport?

Last week I turned out of a T junction, within 100 metres I was behind a Clio 200, 30mph limit, quite busy, in a line of cars all doing 30... he suddenly accelerates, pulls out and passes two cars doing around 50, cutting up one of them as he forces his way back in to avoid hitting an oncoming...

    clio 197 steering wheel melting.

I took mine to the garage yesterday to complain about the steering wheel wearing (started at 30k miles). According to the dealer computer it's a 100% warranty item so there shouldn't be a problem with anyone else getting one?

    portrait advice

no. 1 and 2 distracting backgrounds, clear them or underexpose/use fill-in flash. no. 3 seems quite a harsh light plus big shadow... diffuse the light source and move the subject away from the wall. no. 4 and 5 look like snapshots, need composed better eg dogs looking up, legs not cropped...

depends what you find boring I suppose... I find beautiful scenery and pretty much deserted single track roads in a 197 quite entertaining :D

    Not feeling the Photography love...

Have you tried photographing something completely different from normal? I get sick of shooting rallying but getting out in the country and doing some landscapes or doing some portrait stuff keeps me interested in photography generally.
