I had a go with a 160 a couple of minths ago from the lights off the motorway up a dual carriageway with a slight incline.
I fluffed the start due to too few revs, I fluffed the 1st to 2nd change a bit, and still had time to undertake him and pull in front before hitting traffic... pretty...

Give people a chance!! Half of them wont have got home when you were asking for piccies!!!!
Dont worry though, there were plenty of people with cameras, so there should be some cracking shots available in the next week or two....

A really impressive turnout in the end, well have to see how that run-by comes out Nick!!
Pity about the weather later on, but at least it stayed fine until it went dark.

Im usre there would be no problem if there is a problem with your insurance company... these things tend to be looked upon favourably, as it is out of your hands to a large degree.
I wouldnt worry about it at all.

I am almost positive they can be removed after 3 years... but I could be wrong!
I might just find out myself soon, as my SP50 is now over 3 years ago but I havent been arsed to get it removed yet....

At the end of the day for the minimal performance increase the Clio Cup gives over the 172 I would definitely choose the 172 as I believe the extras you get (most important being the ABS and the AirCon) are well worth the slight decrease in performance.
Like Arjun said, the aircon yesterday...

There should be laws against this kind of thing
What sort of complete t**ser would badge a 1.2 up as a 172 ??
Im sorry, but I think it is one of the saddest things I have ever come across, and you rank WELL below the Max Power Nova muppets for this one Hilly...
I have one question...
Crappy Haynes...
but I presume the majority of parts are the same anyway, the brakes will come apart / reassemble the same wont they ?? I presuem they are the same thing just uprated versions....

I have been looking on the Haynes website (ClioSport members get a 12.5% discount by the way!!) and the only manual for the Clio R to Y reg is for the following:
Covers Hatchback
1149, 1390 & 1598cc petrol (not 1.2 litre 16-valve, 2.0 litre 16-valve or 3.0 litre V6). 1870cc...

I am absolutely convinced the VVt kicks in at 5000 on the Mk1, and I see no reason it would change for the Mk2.
In mine there is a definite kick at 5k, almost like a mini turbo effect, and the car would be a LOT slower of the VVT was absent....

14 months and 17500 miles... and a resoudning YES!
The main reasons I would choose a 172 over a CTR are as follows:-
1) Cost - To get the CTR with Aircon, leather, metallic paint etc adds thousands to the already more expensive base price, so the price difference is actually quite high...

We in here may be a bit biased, but I would go in the following order:
Clio 172
CTR
Leon Cupra
V6 Golf
The clio on a bang for buck and fun basis wipes the floor with all of the others there, and the build quality is not all that bad, provided you are happy to turn up the stereo a bit if...
All the literature says 172bhp, but it is actually 172ps, and in real terms most people on the rollers with 172s are getting around 165bhp (with no mods).
Does it actually matter for a few bhp?? Not on your nelly... bloody quick and lots of fun either way.
