You've got a Yamaha R6 too, thats just greedy, lol Very nice bike though!

    Power Steering

Theres some really interesting stuff being done here by you guys, apart from the slightly angry stuff its a good read The idea with EPAS (Electric power assisted steering) systems is that they reduce the parasitic losses on the engine, hence manufacturers like BMW applying ZF's system to the...

    Brakesssssss Brembo

Its ok, I don't think I fully understand the system by the sound of it, I meant more pure stopping effort (total torque (front+rear)) Right, so theres already a proportioning valve taking the poke out of the rear brakes and you just replace that, while increasing its efficiency with the new...

    Brakesssssss Brembo

Ok, so your suggesting a proportioning valve, it should do the job to balance the brakes, a good suggestion, but u'd need more raw performance. I assume you mean I'd place it in the front brake lines? Also does that mean the cylinder split is front to rear? not diagonals on the clio?

Do you know any links to such an item matey? If you go that far are you changing the master cylinder then?

    Brakesssssss Brembo

Looks like there is a Ferodo option on the rear, http://www.balancemotorsport.co.uk/products.asp?recnumber=35961 But again you will find little effect overall with the std brake bias setup. Has anyone looked into trying to affect the balance with basic mods, such as a more aggressive rear pad...

    remap?

Thanks for that matey, I assume thats a page I can only see if I join up Generally manufacturers have alot of other things influencing their tune, like Engine Refinement Durability Cooling Efficiency Sound Very Hot Start Very Cold Start All different fuels They have to consider it all...

    remap?

Well there you go, from someone who I'm sure has a great deal more experience with mapping clios than me. I'm sure its safe to assume if your driving hard your going through more fuel, being bassically always above the std mixture at WOT? Can I ask which bit of the tune offers more mpg on...

    remap?

Anything that results in increasing the power of your engine is naturally going to increase wear rates. I certainly wouldn't use the word ruin and I'd be reluctant to say damage. But with more power comes more stress on all the major components, so when Renault will have done durability work...

Sorry 172 cup owners and a select 197

Lol, Air Con is handy but I wouldn't swap my Cup for any other renault right now (apart from maybe an R26R). Both the windows down and let off mid bend, that gets some air flow through the cabin, he he

    MOT time

I think this chap probably needs to be banned, not too sure his screen name will go down too well around here. As for his grammar I won't even start. The fog light items won't be an issue and the bulb is purely down to the guy at the MOT centre you go to. Although he'd be a particularly awkward...

    DIY Cambelt

I'd agree with whats been said above, give yourself plenty of time. Its not the easiest timing belt to start on but apart from access its not too bad. I dropped the engine off the mounts and shifted it over the engine bay, made life alot easier. I'm not too sure I agree with the guide asking for...

Totally agree, my car still runs great and the lazer tools did their job well.

    182 Cambelt change: need manual/guide

Yep mines a 172 Cup It was a leisurely pace to be honest. I sand blasted a few rusty brackets and re-sprayed them, plus I did a bit of wax injection around the front end and generally cleaned up the engine bay. I was really surprised with the lack of a key, I’ve done Honda’s, Peugeot’s...

    182 Cambelt change: need manual/guide

Hi Pete I started mine on friday night, finished last night, and put it back together this morning. Can I ask what year your 182 is? The only odd thing I came across was the lack of a key in the crankshaft pulley, I assume they're allowing for vernier adjustment to compensate for any slight...

Can ayone tell me what this is please ???

Just re-read that other thread, he's talking about the re-jigging RS did to stop the rear end locking up in the trust-mark tests that manufacturers have to do. Which in turn gives the cup a silly front brake bias. Something I'll get round to sorting out on mine at some point. Hopefully

Can ayone tell me what this is please ???

O right, I must admit I thought the bias was set on the cup because it doesn't have abs, therefore doesn't really need to. I got that impression from the MOT newsletter thats been posted up here a few times in the past. Anywho, just had a look under my car, a 53 172 Cup and that sensor isn't...

Can ayone tell me what this is please ???

I personally think its the xenon light level sensor. One on each axle, its a legal requirement for any car fitted with xenons. (The brake idea is interesting, but not aware that any system like that is in place on these cars) Looks like a little piece that attachs to the rear torsion bar has...

Quick question, I was wondering if you ever got round to doing this job? I've got a couple of questions if so.

    F4R Cam Timing Tool Dimensions

Hi Ray I really should of made mine up but got a bit lazy and bought it in the end, both pins and the cam tool for £33 wasn't too bad. Haven't got it on me at the moment I should be able to get my hands on it at the weekend. I'll post all the dimensions up when I do James

    New brakes fitted..

The clamp load is supplied with the Wheel nuts, those fixings only help to hold the disc in place while the wheel is fitted. They aren't responsible for any loads.

    HELP!! CLIO 182 NOT STARTING

Surprised that nothing has come up on diagnostics, apart from TDC thats already been mentioned it could potentially be a temperature sensor if its only when the engine is aloud time to cool? It can stop the ECU from giving it a rich mixture for a cold start if it defaults to a given value.

    Trophy in Leamington

Seems to be alot of RS car around Leamington, I'm always seeing other Clio's and quite often see the R26's that are about too. The sainsburys/blockbuster roundabout is such a hotspot, lol Had a friendly wave with a black 182 the other day as we were both overtaking people indifferent...

    Super Cup Update

Yeah, plus theres the thermostat housing and a flexibly mounted PAS line, which need clearance, so I can't imagine there would be an issue. Unexpected things can happen thats all, but track testing has been mentioned a few times now, so I'm sure if that has/does go without a hitch then theres no...

Good stuff, I just had this vision of a plenum taking up all the space on that side of the engine bay, lol.

    Super Cup Update

Thanks Ben I didn't mean CFD work around the engine, I was specifically talking about flow from the back of the radiator. As I'm sure you are aware this needs to be looked after to ensure the radiator see's enough volume of air to reduce the coolant temp. As blanking the back of a radiator has...

    Super Cup Update

I just wanted to ask about this "rizla" comment, I obviously don't have any information as to how you are packaging the product. But I would like to ask which components its struggling to clear? As obviously the engine is on flexible mounts, especially with this being a problem in some Clios...

    Wheel bearings???

Not to sure how much a garage would charge but I paid £32 for the bearing and a couple of quid for a new nut to be on the safe side. Whole job only took about an hour and a half, plus 20mins to heat up the oven, lol.
