    Bussing/shaving noise?

Check the tension in the Aux belt, they can slip erratically if not tensioned correctly.

    auto-lights nearly caused a crash

I normally go for a wave, in the eyes of the law, flashing your lights is warning someone that your there. So at a junction technically means don't pull out I'm comming through. Unlucky on your lights comming on then, I never thought of them being dangerous !

New clio 182 owner an already not happy =(

"Bounce out" - thats the very definition of a damper not doing its job, the idea is it damps the spring to ensure a car flatens out again after the suspension has been compressed. Plus don't write off the front shocks, if there down on fluid they could take grip off the rear! But sounds like...

    AST suspension

For setting up the balance: Stiffer will remove grip from that end, softer adds it. So if you want to tune out some of the understeer renault design into the car, soften up the fronts or stiffen the rears. As for overall values, thats mainly down to the ride quality your happy with...

    meggy 225 engine in a 197?

I must admit I haven't heard of a manufacturer using different part numbers for the same part, so I'd be careful there. (The one I work for certainly doesn't) But with the drawings you can at least get an idea of the differences, got to say good luck mate should be an awesome project !

    Problems caused by blowing exhaust?

Yep Exhausts are tuned with their lengths and various other bits, leaks in them can certainly cause a loss of power.

    Best Exhaust Systems.....

Don't know anything about the exhausts on offer, but all I will say is if you have it changed by a garage, get them to give you the old CAT back, then sell that to a scrap metal merchants, their worth a surprising amount, lol ! (There made of precious metals)

    meggy 225 engine in a 197?

For info on mounts, I'd say try Renault. When I was at Uni, I looked at what OEM's were doing first to see how I could potentially improve/steal designs for some of my projects last year. Porsche, VW, BMW and Vauxhall were all perfectly willing to print off schematic drawing of the...

    Accelleration 'dips' when, err, accellerating..

Poor idle, inconsistant accleration, I really doubt that would be an exhaust problem. Maybe a leaky vacum hose somewhere if theres no ECU lights? Does it do it when hot and cold?

    Accelleration 'dips' when, err, accellerating..

Is the ECU warning light lit up, could be a number of faults in that department?

    cold air feeds and rain

A Turbo is all based around pressurising the air in the inlet (ie: Boost pressure). Both turbo chargers and superchargers simply use either Exhaust gases or crank power respectively to up volumetric efficiency. Clearly with the extra air it is important to get the fueling correct in order to...

    cold air feeds and rain

I have to say the last two post from Rob, have been spot on. RAM effects in engine inlet tracts are a very important parameter to tune when designing a car, it is a very complex procedure !! Such as: Inertia RAM effects, yes you may not think that air weighs very much, however at inlet gas...

    Buying a 172 Cup?

Thanks again, got alot more confidence in the car from those replies. Why wouldn't you fancy doing a belt change ? (possibly an engine bay pic?? lol) Two of my housemates are massive Honda fans and trying to convince me to get a DC2 (Integra) or EK9 (Civic Type R). They have very little chance !!

    Buying a 172 Cup?

Lol, thanks alot guys. I do understand that very few people are likely to come on to mention that there car is actually working, lol. But I guess I'm too used to the car forum I'm normally on (i won't mention the car, don't think I could take the abuse) but its from the 70's hence the post of...

    Buying a 172 Cup?

Hi Guys I joined the forum a couple of days ago and have just been reading through the majority of the threads. I've decided this year that I fancy a new everyday car (already have a project, lol). So looking at about £4000-£5000 and thought that the Clio 172 Cup would be about the quickest...
