I couldn't get media sharing to work from my 360 to my laptop so I gave up and installed Tversity after seeing some decent reports on here. Makes media sharing easy (for me anyway!).

You could try and access the router and add your device in the port forwarding settings, dunno how you'd do that though and I don't know what other trouble you'd have with it. But I'd just save all the hassle and buy the ms wireless adapter, or hard wire it into the router.

My brother had this problem, I had to give his xbox an access point on his router. This sorted out the problem.
