The reno bod I spoke to yesterday claims the ecu is the same as the 172. They have the same part number. Part of the gearbox and exhaust it supposed to be different between Cup and 172.
Are you getting any mods for your car or waiting for reno?
I went to AutoXS today, and apparently a guy from EVO was in a few days ago with the Cup buying springs, short shift and wheels. This is what the sales rep said and did seem fairly honest.
Might get a scorpion system off them until...
Makes me laugh when i phoned reno uk in Dec. Asked about the cup upgrades and they said "Clio Cup whats that?" "Our upgrades are xenon lights etc."
I said its the 172 but lightweight version, she still insisted on the xenon lights, first aid kit as an upgrade tho. Told her to read the Cup...
thanx for responses.
It sounds like a feature of the car if this happens to everyone. Its like the annoying thud when putting into first gear at standstill or reverse for that matter.
Enid,
Thats the chap. Did he take you for a test drive? When he took me out, i was too impressed on the handling and performance to care about dying - he knows the limits of the car.
I live in Aylesbury but work in MK - linford wood around the corner from reno.
The guy who upgraded to 17" turinis has smoked indicators. Look very nice. might have to do the same. K-tec have pics on their site with clear indicators.
I just cant wait for these upgrades. A guy at our local Reno garage has been testing the new ecu on his wifes cup for over a month. Has said there is improvement over the whole rev range especially at the top. He said you get an extra 500 rpm.
Will speak to him tomorrow to get an update on it...
Power steering is fine. Everything seems to be ok apart from the knocking as I said above.
Renault have looked at it and cant find a problem - typical.
Evening,
Keep getting a knocking/rattling sound which I also feeling through the steering wheel when I drive fast around roundabouts. It never happens on open road bends such as A/B roads, only when steering tightly around something.
Full on acceleration and braking it fine - no noise.
Can...
It doesnt bother me who decides to buy a car for what reasons, thats totally down to them and obviously nobody should be judged on that.
Cupsize - remember the Williams limited edition story, I guess this is slightly different but who knows!
As a Cup owner every 172 owner whether it be...

I know it says it in the brochure, but thats Marketing. If technical or R&D departments werent involved before brochure was released, then who knows what Reno may produce or R-Sport. Now if they dont provide half of what they say in the brochure, are they liable. Because Im sure a percentage of...

Thats the problem. If i get seats i want someone that can fit them including sorting out all the wiring so its safe and no warning lights are on.
Didnt someone here fit new seats to their Cup and overcame the problem, the guy that also owns an Impreza STI/Elise or something.
The airbags will inflate but I think the two stage system wont work because it relies on the sensors under the seat. I think someone on the inside needs to comment on this as Reno could say anything to stop you buying aftermarket seats. Obviously I dont want to put my life at risk, but hey, who...
The Cup seats dont have side airbags, only the wiring for the pretensioners and two stage airbag for driver and passenger. I asked about the warranty and non reno engine mods would void it. Aftermarket Seats, exhaust, brakes etc are fine.
The problem with all this info is that Im repeating...

I should find out by end of the week which mods have been given the go ahead. Can anyone check this with their dealers?
Im not interested in the roll cage as I have no plans on driving the car that hard that it would warrant that safety feature (as said before it must weigh quite a bit).
The...

I think Reno have already used t-cut as the paint layer does seem thin - especially when you get chips on the bonnet.
I would quite happily pay £500-600 for a top quality exhaust if it had good enough power gains, like 20bhp+. Anyway time to go home.
Had a conversation today from Reno about the upgrades to the Cup. Basically I was told that there is almost no chance that seats or roll cage will be available. I asked about fitting aftermarket seats and was informed that this would screw up the pretensioners in the seat and would therefore...

The guy said to me someone came in before me, a tall chap if thats any of you on here.
I saw a Cup pull into a side road last night in MK up in Linford Wood at about 5.00pm. Was it anyone here.
As 172CUP stated...
