Yeah, thats the Mk2 Clio you have, the figures I posted were for the Mk3 Clio, as in 06 plate and on.
I used to have the same car as you and yeah around 12 was the time I was getting too. The 1.2 8v will only do it in 15 seconds though.
Guys, can I just point out here that Toms OP stated that the car was fun, and not fast??? Hes merely discovered that revving the car beyond 3500rpm generates a little more fun than he had previously discovered. Again, the 1.2 is a fine car for what it is, a small hatchback with a small engine...
Cos so many people under rate the 1.2. Im not saying they are the fastest things out there or anywhere near RS cars for pure fun and enjoyment, but give credit where credit is due. They are fine cars for what they are.
The pug is only faster cos its about 300kg lighter than the Clio, and also made from old Heinz beans cans.
@ mtbtom, Ive had 2 Mk2 1.2 Clios and if you like the 8v engine, I suggest you try the 1.2 16v. Its more torquey, more powerful and even more fun than the 8v.
Re: f**kING RAGIN! !!!!!
Jesus, only seeing this now. Glad you got her sorted in the end though. Looking forward to seeing some pics.
Actually, some bint in a bloody Avensis scuffed my left rear corner while I was in the chippers getting dinner. Gutted, cos theres no CCTV and I didnt spot...
Very good vid. But sure theres always gonna be people that say thats pish, I dont need a computer to drive my car for me. Ive been in a slide like that and TRUST me, there is NOTHING the driver can do except let it happen. Thankfully I was only doing 25mph and I didnt hit anything, but if Id...
I dont think there will be much in the way of changes. Theres the new GT model and afaik they are introducing the 1.4 16v TCE 130 into the range, the same engine thats going into Megane 3. I doubt they will do anything with the 197 apart from minor cosmetic things and interior spec etc. They...
My brother was trialling one for an Irish mobile phone forum and liked it. Said the features are quite good, similar to the N78 which I have. The only issue he had was the keypad wasnt glued down to the body of the phone properly and started lifting. Oh, and they have changed the standard...
That would be too close to th power output of the 197. If Ive learned anything in 15 years of owning and driving Renaults, they have to leave a big performance gap between the fastest non sport and the RS car. Its an incentive to buy the car. Are they not doing away with the 2.0 n/a 138...
Yeah, its a TCE 130. Supposed to have near 200 ft lbs of torque, but I read that in a French magazine so I could be wrong!! As a Mk3 owner, I have to say I really do like that. The only thing I dont like very much is the Twingo style mirrors. I actually prefer the current shape mirrors...
IIRC, the Expession only came in with the facelift model, so I would say you have a ph2 car. Easy way to tell, if you have the goggle eye version, like the original 172 then its a Ph1, if its a kinda triangle shape then its a Ph2 Clio.
Yeah, nice one mate. The only thing I personally dont like is painting the Renault diamond yellow, but them Im a bit of a purist  I dont believe in de-badging or painting the chrome badges but as said, thats just me!!
Ive seen the results of a remap on one of these engines and...
In terms of performance and handling, I would say yes, the cost was justified. I genuinely believe it is a big improvement. It may not look it in the pictures but there is a visible difference.
As for the discs, yes they come as standard on the Mk3 1.4. None of the 1.2 models, at least...
I suppose theres no such thing as constructive criticism with jealousy then lol. I suppose in fairness, I didnt post any before pics until now so there ya go.
I think this is a key point. IMO, manufacturers dont fit these things to cars to make the drivers and the vehicles invincible. They fit them to help reduce the severity of potential collisions and in some cases prevent a collision from occurring in the first place. They arent designed to...
Disagree with you on that point completely. On a wet or dry racing track, then YES ABS can be counter productive as it can kick in far too soon and actually slow your lap times. But, in snow and ice and on gravel I would much rather have ABS than not. You cannot steer a car with locked front...
Agree with all of this. I had a similar experience with my Mk1 Megane. Over corrected a small slide and ended up heading towards a kerb. Thankfully it stopped before impact and I moved off again. Skid pan training should become mandatory IMO, in both the UK and Ireland. The same with...
Yes, it is lowered. To prove the work done (obviously thats the only way to do this) have a look at the WIP pics below. Can I just remind you that its "only" a 30mm drop and that the mods I am planning are subtle. I dont want the car "on the deck" or anything like that. These pics include...
I own a 2008 Clio but I have been driving for 15 years and learned to drive in cars without ABS. My first car was a Renault 19 and the only "driver aid" was power steering. So, I will have to disagree from my own point of view, but I can see where you are coming from with the younger less...
I was going to go down the whole replica route with the replica bumpers from Prima Racing, but then I though, ermmmm why? So now IM saving for a proper 197.
It wont do anything for your car mate, I really woudnt bother. Not worth the hassle or money tbh.
Guys, thanks for the feedback, but heres the thing. Im happy with MY car, so perhaps instead of criticising the mods or the rationale behind the mods just be happy that I am happy :rasp:
Besides, my whole vision for the car is for subtle mods designed to improve the overall look of the car...
