I think you mean 1k as 1000k is 1,000,000 miles and it may take you some time to get that far (unless your a sales rep!)
Go with what the book says, its not just about the engine but the brakes and other parts of the car that need to settle together, anyone who says go for it from day one...
Rich,
what sounds nice is my new car ;) and in 4th gear at 20mph she pulls like a train :o
Unfortunately im still running her in so i cant see what shell do flat out yet (give it a few more months ;))
Tony
PS, how does a V6 255 pull in 4th at 20mph?
jamesm,
It depends on what your requirements are for a car and what sort of funds are available to you.
Personally id go for the scoob, just for the reliability (these renaults keep going back to the garage to get fixed :o;)) but then again if your on a budget then its probably a good buy...
Martin/Eves,
As wonders says, think alot before buying a scoob.
If you do alot of miles then its going to cost you the earth, and with services every 6 months/7.5k (whichever is first) its not cheap either (the average 3 year service will cost you around 400 quid, a 4yr service is 500 quid...
Rich,
Check out http://www.just-sports.orgwww.just-sports.org you want to get your mate to talk to Nigel, a well sorted bloke who loves his cars :D

Oh i do love these threads!
Personally, the cup was for the "hardcore/diehard" renault fans who wanted something a little rawer than the 172, normally a second car that they can enjoy at the weekends rather than a car they use all the time.
The 182 is bound to be heavier than the 172, simple...
Id go for the 172 as imho its an easier car to drive over the cup.
The cup is a more raw down to earth vehicle, it was meant to be a track day car, thus the reason it was stripped of its little extras, it will also take a more experienced driver to drive one quicker and even at 20 i wouldnt...
Remember that its not just the engine that your running in, its the gearbox, brakes, wheel bearings and other working parts too!
The 1k mile run in will ensure that these parts are working properly.
Tony
Rich,
has something fallen off the cup already? ;)
Ahhhhhhh how i use to love the renault build quality (then i purchased a Peugeot and didnt have any problems except a squeaky front drivers seat, followed by a subaru which only has a disclok problem when driving, ie it rattles ;))
So when...
You need some form of vetting really, now even though i own my Subaru, i have owned 7 french cars, 2 vauxhall vans (work related so not my fault) and a ford mondeo, out of those 7 cars, 3 were renaults.....
If people are really interested and dont want to be classed as someone whos just on to...
172loony,
i take it that GAP installed these alarms then?
Ive a clifford alarm and over the 3 yrs ive had it installed its not caused one problem for me or the car, now it is as said, down to the installer, i will have to say that whoever installed said alarms to the ones in your car park is...
Hmmmmm sorry but i personally condone street racing as its illegal and very dangerous...... what i would be prepared for is some nice blue light action and a day in court.
Tony
Sorry to hear that :(
There is the MIB, this normally covers uninsured losses against the likes of uninsured drivers but im not sure they will cover you.....
Your best bet is actually the council or the likes (whoever the roadworks are done by) as they are suppose to ensure its visable at...
CC will also automatically kick in where as a/c wont.
If you want cc (its a good option) then try to get it on the car at the price hes offering you now, that would be a bargain!
Tony
Mitchy, G*P security fitted your tracker?!!!
Theres the reason its so cheap as most people dont go anywhere near that company for many reasons (plus my trackstar cost me virtually 1k, lifetime subscription and 32 quid per year for the warranty renewal).
I dont pay the 23 quid per month you...
GirlRacer, i know where there is one of these mk1s for this much if your interested? ;)
Also available Renault Clio V6
very rare Blue metallic, 1800 careful miles by one owner. Uk supplied, tracker, 2 years remaining Renault warranty ,unmarked and immaculate example
Price: £21995...
Still puzzles me why people want brembo discs on the rears of their cars???? as the majority of the braking force (like 80% of it) is on the front (where a nice set of Brembos belong ;)).
Tony
Ralph,
The 106 gti has a different suspension setup to the VTS, this is why they always came infront of the VTS (mk1) when tested.
Now the new VTS has 130bhp and the 106 still has 120bhp...... and there is still an advantage with the 106, ie peugeot make it rather than its sister company...
Hmmmmm.....
Well let me see.....
1. Pug 306 GTi-6/Rallye (one of the best handling hot hatches ever!)
2. Pug 205 GTi (either the 1.9 or the 1.6, im not fussy)
3. Clio williams (an all time classic)
4. Pug 309 GTi (a bit heavier than its little brother but under rated and soooo well...
