Just prey that the police dont investigate it and find that you were exceeding the speed limit by a considerable ammout (plus wait until you get the bill for the damage to the central reservation, its around 1k per section they charge!!).
You are seriously lucky to walk away from that, it may...
Mike,
this is a refined fuel, ie no octane additives, the only additives are cleaning agents like every other manufacturer adds.
My info came straight from the horses mouth (shell uk) and if i can find the email again ill post it on here.
Tony
Optimax keeps its octane rating for 6 months (98.6 is the MINIMUM rating for this fuel) and as most of these fuels deteriorate after 6 months anyway.... (i got my info direct from shell, just email them like i did).
For octane booster i would look at...
Id fit what ever you have on the rears to the front also.
Mixing tyres can be bad for you as the different levels of grip can cause your car to loose traction quicker than you thought. Stick with what you know is good.
Tony
Ive had a blast with an e36 M3 (non evo) and out paced him, he wasnt happy ;) and my car was poorly at the time (loss of boost over 4k rpm). I let him past in the end, no wave from him either (bad loosers are these BMW drivers me thinks ;))
Tony
Hmmm should say that there were also 2 works vans in that lot (a 2ltr di 16v astra mk4 and then a 1.7ltr dti) and now a Mondeo 1.8 LX (which i still have)
Tony
I had a similar problem when i had my R19 16v back in 95, though the problem was more down to the fact that the renault garage didnt tighten the damn thing up so it was leaking oil all over the place :@
Oh well.....
Tony
Swissol is THE best wax ive ever used :D and i have virtually no swirl marks on my car (even though i only got to do the roof and the bonnet before the rains started).
A starter pack cost me 110 quid last year (includes case, a proper metal one!!).
Check out...
A quick demonstration about racing (true story!)
Muppet in white rs turbo escort (with stupid stripes down the side) is at set of lights to my left, me in scoob turning right at lights (this is a major junction btw).
Note that lights are on red for muppet in rs turbo escort and ive gone...
I doubt seriously if the ecu was different (if you see how much it costs to develope these you will see why!)
You shouldnt be able to tell the difference between an import (rhd) and a UK rhd car.
These all come off the same production line, they are just allocated to either the UK or Ireland...
As ChavyBoy states, your gearbox will suffer (if not die) so that will have to be rebuilt along with a clutch that can take the power (plus uprated driveshafts also, tc would be a good idea) and you would need a good set of 4 pots on there to stop you (if you have ever tried stopping a 300bhp...
It was last year when i did that speed (on a nice bit of private duel carriageway in germany somewhere ;))
I wouldnt have liked to have seen what my EGTs were like though and i wasnt there for too long (having a quick blast with another rather rapid car).
Good fun but i dont want to do it...
Off the clock in my car ;)
Red line was at 7k, i was at around there, the clock is at 160 :o and that had gone beyond that (gearing is to 167mph in 5th at 7k rpm)
Work that one out ;)
Tony
Hmm i may tag along and give my car a run out again (if i am correct in assuming where this is ive already given my car a very good run out down there ;))
Tony
Rich D can probably confirm this but i think someone like evo put a 306 rallye v a CTR on a track and the Rallye won easily ;)
Taking into consideration that this car is based upon one thats been around for a few more years than a ctr i think honda got it wrong with the slogan bye bye gti as...
The GTi-6 is a couple of seconds quicker than the 106 gti to 100, it pulls like a train and is excellent fun!
The 106 wont be replaced unfortunately and the 206 gti 180 looks like it will be the only pug to hold the badge GTi shortly.....
Tony
Fred, like your questions there ;)
I must admit that 219bhp is quite optimistic for a ctr with a super chip and induction kit, even on a car with 197bhp standard (if lucky) 4 or 5 bhp is probably average for an increase, and you would normally find that what has changed is the way the torque...
Ooooops should point out that track day insurance is a MUST!
Its not nice paying for your car whilst you dont have it any longer due to a misinterpretation of a corner.....
Tony
My only recommendation is that you have the oil changed after you finish your day at the track as these days put more pressure on your engine and that means more pressure on the oil (it breaks down quicker).
Also things to remember are :-
1. when you come in off the track, dont apply your...
Hmmm the focus rs..... ive seen 3 now i think, there is a post somewhere about a virtually new one being rolled (no doubt on a bouncy road ;)) but they still say there are much better cars to be had out there, the fact these cars are rare will give them a bit of a status, personally id not buy...
If you think that a 172 picks up well in 4th from 50 you should try a Pug 306 GTI-6, my last one picked up from 25mph in 4th!!
Now that was a car :D (all 177bhp in standard form, and yes i know they are 167 but mine was rolling roaded at 177 at the fly, 147 at the wheels).
Tony
When you are talking about cheverons are you talking about the centre lines or a marked area?
Crossing a marked area is a no no, its there for a reason (depending on the road probably) but if you crossed the centre lines then yes, you were in the wrong because there would have been no way you...
