    Eeek, BIG bang... advice please.

Had you just put your handbrake on/off. I had one of the rear cables snap on my golf and it made a huge thud. Try driving along and pulling your handbrake on and see if both rears lock up

Clio 182 - Rev counter signal wire

Its lots easier to get a shift light that plugs into the cigarette lighter. They are not quite as accurate, but still good and only £40. You have to p1ss about with it to get it set up at the right rpm though.I've got one and it's cool nice blue leds on A-pillar

Fitting 172 cup springs onto a full fat 172

Cheers MarkCup i stand corrected on the steering mechanism, to be fair i wasnt sure but i had read it somewhere. Thought this may a bit provoking but that is my understanding of the differences. Hence i bought a 172 cup

Fitting 172 cup springs onto a full fat 172

What part of that is wrong? The cup is lighter, has a wider track and i think it has different steering mechanism and is more exciting to drive IMO. And it doesnt have ESP / ABS/ Traction so its loads of fun, except in the snow.

Fitting 172 cup springs onto a full fat 172

The cup is better to drive as it has different steering? (electro-hydraulic), its lighter, wider track, and as it doesnt have ESP it is much more driver orientated than the FF 172. Although not quite as sensible!

How do i get caliper paint off?

Just paint them silver, not worth messing around trying to remove IMO.

    Which wheels??

Got to be the 172 wheels, i really disloike the RSi wheels. But of course Turini's are the best (?biased)

    Cup and weight

Try driving on the wrong side of the road and locking up, i think the left front would still lock up first.
