The thing with the turbo astras is they have so much usable power from low revs so they feel so quick to drive. They are fast without having to wind them up like you do in the clio RS'.
Here's my old turbo 5 door :-)
My 03 has auto wipers, lights, sat nav. one touch on the drivers window but no cruise control.
I think renault just decided to use up some old parts lying around on the ph2s lol.
There doesn't seem to be a pattern here....
Well, thats one way of doing things. Just it's getting worse steadily. Takes a good warm up now for the crunch to disappear. Anyone any ideas on box rebuild costs?
Got the infamous third gear crunch starting:dapprove:. It is only when changing down gears, NOT up from second. And below 30mph it goes into gear fine??
The gearbox oil was replaced before i bought the car. So what do you reckon guys? New gearbox time or not?
If so, where from here? I'd rather...
Got some Brembo max grooved discs arrived yesterday for the 172. Planning on some track action next year so i'm prepping it up a little.
Paid just £80 delivered for the pair. But now i need some brake pads, anyone have any recommendations for some good fast road pads?
GSi will eat you, i used to own a Z20LET (turbo) astra. Even standard they are quick. remapped and they are fairly brutal on acceleration. Clio will win in the twisties though.
Being an ex-vauxhall man I love the VXR too, the power is a class above most others of the same price range. Especially when remapped. Both cars look very similar in shape and design though I think.
Re: With or without? You decide....
Never liked painted tyre decals tbh. If the car was stickered up for racing then it would be a different story though.
And it was only yesterday i was looking in my 172 in the dark thinking, "wonder why there's no lights in the back". Don't think i'm too fussed on putting any in though. Not really necessary for me.
Are the LED lights REALLY bright as they are in the pics. I like the colour of the light they...
Mine has a sticker on the petrol cap recommending super 98 octane. Although the super i buy is 97 RON. But thats all i run my cars on. Only use 95 in desperation
I could keep up in my astra turbo that was around 260bhp. I would imagine a clio with 220 ish would do the same. It's great keeping up with a 20 to 30k car with one worth nearer 3 to 4k:rasp:. I think i need throttle bodies:cool:
Indeed, Clio's are the in thing down here in Kent now:D
I recently bought a full fat 172 and its a great car. The cup was lacking a few things I wanted so went for the FF. Pics of your motor when you get one though mate!
Cheers guys. Yes the sat nav is nice to have although wasn't on my list of requirements. Nice touch though!
I converted my astra with some friends. The link to the build thread is here if you are interested.
Just changed from a mk4 astra turbo mate. Can be had for a shade over £2000 now. Although not a good one i'll admit.
30 mpg all day long (till you press the right pedal)
7 seconds to 60
comfortable for longer journeys
not too expensive to run although more goes wrong IMO with a turbo engine...
Hi all
Well, it's been a good 5 years or so until my astra decided it didn't like its engine anymore.
Here's the reason it won't drive any longer:dapprove::
So I have gone french and got myself up a renaultsport. Alot of car for the money I reckon.
Joined the site a few weeks...
I just bought a 172 mate. I went for the full fat over the cup as i like the leather and features like climate control.
Can't comment on the handling\performance difference though.
^^^ thanks alot for the help mate. I may check it out, any ideas on the price of the fuel sender by any chance? If not I will ring renault and make sure i'm sitting down lol
Well what you have described above works Jonny, hmmm, i wonder what it could be. 16 L is what the display says, about right for a 1/4 of a tank i would say.
Maybe it might work now i have done the above. We will see.
