It's going to be down to them. But because you supplied the parts they might say it was down to the oil. That might be there get out clause even if it was genuine Renault oil.
But in my opinion the flush has caused the damage. I don't understand why they would add a flush if you supplied the...
That will be the flush. Seen it too many times. It's nasty stuff. Sounds like you have a failed piston rings. I bet the flush has removed the layer around the bores if you get what I mean. I have seen flushes cause engine knocking.
Right so today I changed the oil and filter with titan race pro oil. So that's the running in procedure done. So it can finally be taken to the limiter if I want now.
I also fitted my wheel spacers from pure motorsport.
If some of you may remember my silver 182 which got written off had a set of...
Well went out to the Clio yesterday and click. Starter motor has gone. Great.
Off to gsf to get one. They had one on the shelf so I brought it ready for fitting on Sunday.
So it took me about 40 minutes to fit. Wasn't too bad to fit. Unbolted the manifold made life easier. A guy said to me when...
You can do buddy. But I don't normally as long as the surface is clean it will seal.
Make sure you place the new pump in a bucket of water to lubricate the seal which is inside the pump. If you don't do this then you run the risk of the seal tearing this is because the engine coolant is the...
Jack the car up and remove the drivers front wheel.
Remove the arch liner. Find it easier.
Remove the undertray if you have one.
Remove the front bumper.
Remove the drivers side headlight.
I slacken the water pump pulley bolts with the belt still on. 10mm I think. But don't remove them...
Well the Clio has done over 300 miles since the engine has gone in.
I had issues with the rear crank seal after fitting a new one. So the car was recovered to Dan at SJM who fitted a new seal with the correct tool. I couldn't find the special tool anywhere hence why it had to go to Dan. It was...
I have just fitted 438 cams to my Clio with uprated valve springs and a sm inlet. They are awesome especially on idle. Not as lumpy as some cams. But you still know that they aren't standard. I can't give my engine any hard revs at the minute due to me still running the piston rings in.
Who is...
If you can't find anyone with clip. Then try a few local garages and ask if they have a diagnostic tool called brainbee this has the function to turn the airbag off. We use brainbee at work and it work perfectly when I fitted my recaros.
Well the engine is in and running. Just need to get it mapped for the mods that it's now got.
Here is s few pics during and finished. I'm so glad it's done and running.
The full spec includes.
438 cams
SM inlet
KTEC lightweight flywheel.
New piston rings
Uprated valve springs
New oil...
So this afternoon I decided to fit the new piston rings. I got them from engine dynamics.
I have honed the bores and fitted the rings and fitted new arp bolts.
I'm making progress slowly. I'm also going to be fitting a new oil pump. On the transmission side of things. The gearbox has been...
I'm going to be getting ktecs 438 cams. Am I better getting the Ktec map with the cams or just stick with the efi 99ron map which is on the car at the moment.
Thanks.
Well this afternoon I stripped the sump off the engine. Removed the oil pump to fit new arp bolts. But then thought do I just fit new piston rings as this is what has gone on the current engine. I will be fitting a new oil pump as well. But is it worth fitting rings.
Another update.
Took the head off while some bits were at the powder coaters. So I decided to fit new valve stem oil seals and lapped all the valves. All the head needs is a skim and it's done. Gave it a quick paint.
So today I have stripped the engine ancillaries and gave the block a coat of...
