Mine did this and it started using more oil over the last two months. So it needs a new engine as the piston rings have gone.

Are the covers located right mate. It could be the lower plastic cover is rubbing on the belt. I would remove the covers to check.

i have done a few of these now. So you locked the crank and the back of the cams with the correct tools. If you used to tools to to lock everything in place them I can't see how it went wrong. Did the engine turn over OK by hand before you started it. Another possibility is that the dephaser...

I'm pretty sure it was. It dropped a valve on 197 cams. So the head was rebuilt. All the bits are off the the powder fosters on Saturday.

I did my 182 cambelt myself and I used the genuine Renault tools. I work as a mechanic so I wasn't put off by doing the cambelt. It's pretty straightforward. I just took my time and uses the correct tools. My Clio is running fine and has had no problems with it since the belts have been done...

I have done a few of these now. I just use a high quality jubilee clip to compress the tensioner spring. Then I just put the belt on the crank pulley as much as I can then rotate the crank and let the belt rotate on. Works every time for me. I had no need for levers. Hope this helps a few of...
