Whats the new 197 Cup like?

My Ph1 172 is dead even all the way from 0 - top speed with two of my mates DC2s. The EK9 type r's are supposed tobe a tad slower than these so maybe the same speed as a full fat?? Anyway very little in it either way. Surely if 13k was on the cards for a 197 you could get a DC5. Same speed...

    172 Ph1 Pads don't fit

LOL Well got there in the end guys, thanks for all your help, i've had 9 cars (including 2 valvers) and never had so much trouble fitting pads before, but got there in the end. Removed the sliders and also ended up not being able to use the old anti rattle jobbies on the backs of the pads as...

    Even lower on H&Rs

Im well aware of this, I have played quite alot with the front as this can go alot lower, I found the perfect balance where I am at the moment, which is: Rears set to bottom Fronts set 7 threads from bottom - This left the front ever so slightly lower than the back, with the sill about 10mm...

    Even lower on H&Rs

As above, it would seem that if the spring was 10mm shorter but with the same properties then no. Because once it is fitted onto a stripped car the spring will sit at the same length as the standard H&R spring would on a fully loaded car.

    172 Ph1 Pads don't fit

Thanks for all the help guys, I shall attempt them again tonight. Bin the calipers shims file the pads.

    Even lower on H&Rs

Ahh I see. Is there anyway to maintain a good level of travel? I assume this must be possible as the car is perfect now, so if it raises 10mm when weight is removed from above it, then it will have been the spring that expanded for that, will it not? so then if I get a 10mm shorter spring it...

    Even lower on H&Rs

Are you refering to "or remove the platforms and flip the inner one on its arse under the axel" or "Extra low rear springs/platforms, speak to Yozzasport" ????? Compromising the handling is not an option, after spending £800 on sus its handling the way I want it to.

    Even lower on H&Rs

At the moment I have my H&Rs set to the bottom at the rear, and they sit Perfectly, however I will soon be striping the car (alot) and expect the back end to ride 10mm or so higher. Is there anyway of changing the spring or any other components to allow me to drop the car a further 10mm? I...

    172 Ph1 Pads don't fit

are the caliper shims the metal pieces which go between the pads and the carrier (you get two on each brake) which the pad slides along? As for them being the wrong ones I got them from yozzasport so they shouldnt really have any else in stock.

    172 Ph1 Pads don't fit

It seems tobe width as well as length of the pads, is it ok to file that away as well.

The REAL weight of FF air con setup, My latest weight saving....

Very interested in these bargain brackets you speak of. Every 10kg helps, and 105kg (10% of the weight) is worth 17bhp (10% of the power) in my eyes. And thats without disscussing the cornering and braking gains. Thats my gain when I start stripping mine soon. Please do keep us updated...

    Wider Track

What are my options for widening my ph1 172s track? I only wnat an extra 10mm or so, as since I have fitted the H&Rs the front wheels look quite far back. If I use 10mm spacers I assume I will need new locking wheel nuts and new nuts?
