Its because insurance companies dont want inexperienced drivers to drive powerful cars. The 172 and 182 are the same category because they are almost the same car. Newer cars are generally safer for passengers and pedestrians, so are a lower group.

You should be thankful the insurance is so high. You should be restricted to a 1.0l until you pass your 3 year probation period.

Your mileage may vary. It could be that it didnt work because my CTR was so bad, but it may work in a car without such a massive fault.

Ymmv. The CTR misted so badly I dont think anything would have helped. It just made the inside of the windows wet, rather than misty.

I tried using it in the CTR, because the EP3s suffer from the worst misting ever, and it was useless. It also had the added benefit of making the car smell like you had necked a bottle of gin. And even if it did work, it wouldnt help with de-icing as you apply it inside.

I test drove a GTI 180 before I bought my CTR. Wasnt massively impressed. The gearbox, in particular, was pretty shabby and the driving position was awful.. Its a nice car, nice seats and all but there are few things that set it back. Its certainly a breed apart from the standard GTI anyway...
