Standard for Standard my Williams my was nearly identical to a MK2 172 a workmate bought just before I sold my Williams - but then it had over 160bhp whenever rolling roaded and weighed less than a 172.
My mate had a Cup and it was a fair bit faster than the 172 and the Williams 30-100.
Flash I really dont think it is the wrong way round - the amount of young people that get a fast car and kill themselfs is testamant to this.
I have owned nothing but hot hatches and im now 30 - considering the things I did in my XR2 at 17 im lucky to be alive.
When and if im 70 I will have...
OK maybe im gibbering then LOL
I do have this picture in my mind of a green laguna - but then again theres lots more pictures in my mind that best stay there!! lol
My Williams was standard and in 1st class condition (164bhp) - Im yet to drive a car I like as a package that I rate as highly - including 4wd cars.
If you want Scooby straight line speed its going to cost (and I dont mean standard bugeye turbos as its near the same as them standard).
As for...
Its not allowed on this forum - it may have escpaed your attention but its also illegal.*
*not that i dont do anything illegal but im sure not stupid enough to post about it on a public forum LOL
Your wasting your time IMO - seen people do this loads of times over the years.
You will never get your cash back - it will always be a 1.2 with a transplant. Not many on here want one so who is going to buy it when you want to sell? Someone will but not for what its cost you!!
Also as...
Where is this rule?
New Hot-Hatches are often faster than the outgoing models but its not a rule and im sure the old CTR was faster than the bread van version.
FWD cars can only deal with so much power and manufacturers have to sell a safe and complete package - they are near the limit and...
Ian 172 - exactly how many 172s have managed this magic 0-60 of 6.35?
Would that be one per chance?
On a day that a lot of people on various Ford forums managed rather stupidly low 0-60 times too?
I love the way the owners of newer machinary continually make snide comments about Williams...
I think youll find most of us know the history pretty well - I have quite a few articals from 1992/93/94 on who,how and why it was made.
There isnt anything to discuss really - the name Willliams is pure marketing for a very good car that could have been called a Clio 150.
Just like a Focus...
Williams had NOTHING - NOTHING AT ALL - to do with the Clio Williams!!!
You understand!!! NOTHING!!! Renault mearly named it Williams FFS!!!
It came about due to increased capacity in the F2 Rally class the Clio 16v was in - so they created a 2ltr car instead of the 1.8 and called it a Clio...
Yup - the Williams has tonnes of Rallying pedegree as thats what it was designed and used for.
It has no F1 pedegree but was named so to celebrate Renault Williams F1 Team winning the world championship.
The 182 is set up for the road is it not? British type roads at that.
As far as I know (Focus RS excepted) most hot hatches are set up for A & B roads by the makers and not tracks. I think the Focus spent most development on the track and good german roads which is why its so quick on track...
