So you bought a car with the engine management light on that sounded rough. You haven't mentioned how much you paid for the car. Cheap perhaps?
You bought private for cheaper so have to take the risks attached
Expensive and harsh lesson for the future
I think a year ago yes but with them jumping in value so much in that time I'd say its to late. I can't see people paying much more than 15-18k for a good mark 2 or 12-14k for a mark one.
But then again what do I know
Ive just ordered the Federals Chip linked to earlier as i cant be arsed to look any more.

They did have a set of soft compound for a bit more bit these will do for now.
Thanks gents for the help
I have tried the search but can't find the answer.
Have wet/mixed weather tyres sorted with Toyo T1R on my 182 set of wheels but they melt when its hot and dry from experience. So have invested in a set of 15" wheels to get a good set of track rubber for when its warm and dry etc.
Not running...
New shocks all round, wheel bearing, top mounts and both drive shafts along with service. Plus it will need two front tyres soon. That's just the 172 I'm sorting the trophy next week. It would be cheaper to run a Porsche
Passenger seat in the trophy gets moving back and forth and now won't lock in position. Still tilts back and forth. The piece of metal that sits at the back on the rail has broken ( that moves back and forth also independently of the seat.
Obviously I need a new part but would it be the rail...
Buy a code reader for a tenner and try clearing the codes. If it does come back on they post the fault code up and someone will be able to tell you the problem
All fine now thank god. New plugs, leads and coil along with oil and filter change as it was there and to be sure it had the right stuff in.
Water had got into the spark plugs after some tool had jet washed the engine bay it seams.
Running 100% now
Thank god it's been sorted. Some idiot has jet washed the engine bay it looks like and water has got into the were the spark plugs are.
Rusted them and I'm lucky they all came out in one piece. All changed with new leads and coil pack just to be safe and it's running 100% fine. Thanks for all...
Hopefully a simple one but with me it will probably need a new engine with my luck. Ive got the 172 for donar parts to see whats wrong so worst case ill have a dead 172 for a few days while i order the part thats gone wrong
So my curse with cars continues
driving to get my son yesterday in traffic stationary and engine management light starts flashing and car then starts misfiring badly, turned around and drove home.
called out RAC and they read fault codes as misfire on cylinder 2.
towed to garage today and they...
