You'd be surprised what people DON'T know about cars, a little knowledge is dangerous.. Some people know what oil is, but they don't know where to put it!
We spent three days trying to figure out how the oil had mixed into the water on a horrible little micra, all the water hoses and water...
MOT doesn't mean your cars in good working order, its a basic safety check, whereas a service is maintenance check, but still you can't ever check your clutch until it goes, because its a big job! Its just one of those things you you don't worry about, until it goes wrong! You'd be able to tell...
Cambelt hasn't really got anything to do with age, I think its around 60'000 for a cambelt, but I'll look on autodata at work tomorrow for a service schedule if you want?
Haaaaa
In all seriousness, you should shine a spotlight out of your rear window whenever you reverse, for the time being!
Sounds like an expensive problem, get quite a few problems like that at work, its a job for the electricians!
Yeah but I was thinking of taking the rear seats out and doing a 'back of car' build! I seen a clio van with a boot build somewhere on this site I think, looked awesome!
Yeah taking the seats out is the easy bit.. tidying up whats underneath is the problem!
Gotta find the right carpet to match the rest though..
I think its best to get all the bits and bobs you need before taking anything out (;
Is it hard to remove the rear seats? Not actually removing the seats but once you've removed them.. is it a case of a sheet of wood and some carpet? Can someone whos done it let me know whats involved please so I can work out whether its worth doing!
I'm in the middle of designing a boot build, and I'm not sure whether this is a stupid question..
Could I put an inverted sub facing down into the area where the spare wheel is? Like I said i don't know whether its a stupid idea or what so if anyones done it then let me know!
Probably stick with a grommet then if I can't find a cover!
Random question.. but I know on Saxos you can wire up the rear wiper to pop the boot once you've de-wipered, anyone rewired it to anything?
Yeah that was what I was worried about, getting a cover like that one, best make sure I get one before I de-wiper, don't really fancy having a grommit! If anyone finds one give me a shout (;
Has anyone tried removing the rear wiper on a Mk2 Ph1?
I don't know whether it would look good because of where the wiper is situated.. just wondered if anyone had tried it, how they did it and what it looks like?
My insurance is with Quinn, £1028 standard fully comp, in my first year, haven't told them about my modifications but will when I get round to it (; from what I hear it won't make much difference, apparently Quinn are undercutting other companies by up to 50%, so I'd definitely give them a ring!
See now thats getting me worried! Its a pretty horrible noise and if I can't find a problem I'll probably replace the exhaust system, which I was planning to do anyway, but it was bottom of the list!
I'll let you know what I find!
Yeah its a high pitched scraping sound, thats the best description I can give you really! I'll check all the heat shields and mounts, touch wood it'll be something nice and cheap! Cheers for the help!
I've got a ridiculously loud exhaust on my car, a straight through de-cat, sounds great when you apply throttle but as you take your foot off the throttle and the revs come down it makes a scraping sound, one of my mates has the same problem with a factory exhaust and aftermarket backbox...
