Finally you speak some sense Hudson, If that's you stance fair enough, it's not how it read to me that's all. I do know where you're coming from as that's why my ECU switches the alternator circuit off under certain conditions and i run a tiny one anyway.

No where have a said there wouldn't be a measure difference, simply that it's so small it's inperceptible, you couldn't tell 3bhp difference car to car! it's not about that, i was simply questioning the fact that its pointless to keep it. That statement simply isn't true.

ITB engine bay pics - ***** it up!

It's not intended as a knowledge war because it's not a who's know more, i merely wanted someone to explain clearly the logic behind using ITB's and keeping aircon being pointless. I felt it to differ from reality. At the end of the day it boils down to an imperceptible degradation in...

It seems to be a matter of pure opinion to be honest ad comes down to wanting the bay to look different. The socks logic i understand but you have to come to the same conclusion, fitting them and keeping aircon is not pointless it's merely not the solution you deem optimal.

Dave, why do you lose the power? and how much across what rev range?

ITB engine bay pics - ***** it up!

Why are you spending so much? i know throttle bodies well and mine cost about 2k and made nearly 50bhp difference, granted on a different and bigger engine but i just dont see where you spend 5k

ITB engine bay pics - ***** it up!

I did go but not with the mk1 this year! My point on this thread was that keeping the aircon by no means makes throttle bodies pointless, but yes for a pure performance installation the less weight etc the better. I'm completely with Andy on this, yes you can optimise the package for the...

What sort of numbers over what rev range though from hard numbers not speculation? Is it not a clutched compressor? The additional parasitic losses from free running compressor are minimal, therefore with the aircon off it would make an inperceptible difference to the driver.

    Gearbox Oil Grade

Go with the manufacturers grade if possible, it's unlikely to cause any terminal damage but may affect shift quality s previously mentioned

intermediate shafts and stiffening the long side mitigate alot of the driveshaft geometry and elasticity issues though.

Socks are bad idea but then any filter gives losses to some extent. I used to run mine without a filter with no problems short term, it is risky for foreign bodies aswell as particle damage within the combustion system and valve train so not advised really. What is that stops you running the...
