I've never been on the track but have always made sure the suspension is correctly setup as I like to drive as close to the limit as possible knowing the car is as predictable and safe as possible.
All personal end of the day, some people go so low handling is out the window anyway.
Don't assume suspension is setup correctly. It's nearly always not.
Even when "professionally" setup it's even rarer to have it corner weighed. The difference is significant. A proper job can cost upwards of £250 just for the setting up.
2 "main" types:
Type 1 height adjustable
Type 2 height and also rebound/compression adjustment.
Get the best you can afford but more importantly get it properly setup with corner weigh and full geometry.
Mine always has serv on but as it's a somewhat of a frankenstein car (no ABS, PAS, TC yardy yady) I'm not worried.
As far as I know you can't reset them and they won't go off unless ecu throwing a fault - which can be diagnosed.
Mines a dog when cold. Normally I turn it on it idles fine, then when the oil OK goes off the dash it splutters for a bit (as if it's going to die) then a few secs later it picks up again and it's OK to drive off. It's still lumpy and that for a few miles.
Sometimes, seems when it's wet...
Does the sound change with road speed or engine speed? Get up to speed somewhere and change through a few gears to see. The full lock and turning (going slow) might identify some knocking too.
I use a CleanYourCar - Huge Drying Towel 38" x 28" just £9.95 along with some QD, either FK#425 or Chemical Guys Synthetic QD
IMO stay away from blades even if your surface is clean.
Thanks guys,
Understandable a lot of people don't like the lights (esp the headlights), this is how I bought it and don't mind too much. Normally I like to keep as much as possible OEM but I think I'll let these slide.
The arch linings have been taken out but it still rubs going around the...
Hi guys,
A few shots after todays clean and wax. I've recently ordered a new wash pad (instead of a mitt, much better IMO) along with some FK1000p and FK42QD.
The car was still beading well from a few coats of Collinite 476s a month or so ago so I only gave a thin layer of the FK1000p to...
Nice lighting.
The spray nozzle isn't 100% in the center of the light "beams" (if that makes sense, in fact maybe the writing on the bottle too) and the lid should be 100% head on (you can see more to the right). Also the lid has a shadow but the bottle doesn't (to the right).
Good stuff.
I was about to start taking the piss but hey give the guy a break, if you don't ask you don't learn. Maybe some more people should ask things and giving them ago instead of running down the dealership to get ripped off. Judging by some of the driving standards some should be asking how to...
The second number on the tyre is a ratio to it's width (first number) so:
185/55/15 = 55% of 185mm = 101.75mm add the 15" (381mm) TOTAL = 482.75mm
195/45/16 = 45% of 195mm = 87.45mm add the 16" (406.4mm) TOTAL = 493.85mm
Which gives a speedo difference: 0.475% too fast
