I know I'm trying to have my cake & eat it, but I wouldn't want to take a step backwards in terms of performance, which a Golf TDi would probably be, although if I'm honest it's probably the most sensible option.
Would love a DC5, but like I said cannot really go over 8 grand, which looks...
Haha- love it!!!! Would absolutely love to have a play in one of those, but has to be for commuting as well as weekends, so need something a little more tame unfortunately.
Not thought about the Meg though, thanks for that one- For those with experience of the Meg, am I likely to be able to...
Work's taking me far & wide at the moment- done 8,000 miles in the last 4-5 months. Don't think it will stay like it, but would be nervous about buying anything with more than high 20's milage at the moment.
Did you have something in mind?
Love my 172 but doing so many miles with work at the moment that I need to swap before the milage goes too high, & got a real dilemma what to go for next.

p.s. Has anyone found a use yet for that little cubby-hole to the right of the steering column?! (see pic above)
I don't think anything I've put in there has ever lasted more than 5 minutes!
...was even thinking of putting a rubber strip in there to make it grippy..
That's fine when I'm driving on my own, but when I've my 1 year old daughter as a passenger I'd be happy to be known as a 'wimp' if means we're safer...
So was it an optional extra then?
Hi all,
Was wondering the above, as I've never detected a hint of traction control on my 172; for example it'll spin really easily if it's wet & I pull away at the lights with a slightly heavy foot.
Looked in the manual, & there's a switch to turn the ESP off (to right of steering wheel)...
