few problems just had my car itb'd

Chaps, to clarify I don't think Nick meant any harm against us, before I ran M-Tech I too used different tuners on my own cars, and I would been exactly the same as him. Like others have said though, the place I used woudnt even answer the phone to me after I had the car back! (although on the...

Yeah defo regulated somewhere (they use the same rails between the phases by the looks of things, the mouding is there for the reg and return take offs!), but lets say we suddenly hit 80% duty on a seriously built supercharged engine on large injectors, I assume a 'proper' fuel system would be...

Danny, you can reach us on 01373 30 30 33, give us a call when your around and we'll arrange something. (or just pop in...) thanks again, Matt

Another area of interest for me personally on this particualr engine is the fuel system, theres no return, and the fuel pump relay is powered along with the coilpack so its not ECU modulated... I assume that it is self modulating in tank? I would of thought it hard to accurately maintain rail...

Fred/Danny, How good of autodata lol We had a glanza turbo engine we had built and were mapping, it actually showed the dizzy rotating the wrong way, hence my 'distrust' of it in general! It is pretty good for ecu pindata though... Matt

Danny, Now this is why forums are the best resource out there! People wanting to help :) Nick will be dropping the car to us Tuesday evening, so if your up for popping over and casting your eye over it, more than happy to accomodate with tea, biscuits and plenty of good humour :) Cheers, Matt

few problems just had my car itb'd

Fred, we have autodata, in your expereince are the manuals a better bet? Thanks, I have never had an uphappy customer yet, and certianly dont want to start! The lucky think with us we are on a MAHOOSIVE trading estate (ex airfield) so we have our own private test track so customers test their...

few problems just had my car itb'd

Adey, We have done a clio about a week before Nicks, and another of our customer (SiTech Racing) fitted and mapped on in scotland so we knew the areas, the info here has just helped us really. Some maoney back?? If you can get a TB converson done for less that £1800+VAT go for it :) The...

few problems just had my car itb'd

We only took payment up front for the Tbs (1300 inc) Nick paid me the £800 inc. (for supply and fitment iof ECU, mech throttle pedal conversion, TB instalaltion, mapping) after he test drove the car! Now he has taken it away and driven it further he is not happy, and I am going to remedy it. I...

few problems just had my car itb'd

Fred, Yes you can do that but we always go down the route of removal where we can. Nick did say he wanted a stack dash as he is prepping his car for track use. Most of the cars we work on have no loom at all, and piggybacking, although may be good practice in this case, from an autoelectrics...

few problems just had my car itb'd

I never said you were, I said there are keyboard warriors out there.... over reaction there chap, no harm meant on my part! I dont think he got ripped off, not when in my mind the car is now not ready due to VVT being a required feature to accertain maximum power from this variant of engine...

some of the cars we are accustomed to: full kevlar body, S2000 engine in a RWD configuration... going supercharged and TBs for 400ish bhp.

few problems just had my car itb'd

We arnt looking to find out, all advice should be taken with a pinch of salt.... ;lots of keyboard warriors out there, although some do have some credible knowledge. I have never professed to be a clio expert, our experience of Reanults usually revolves around the VQ motor that powers the 350Z...

few problems just had my car itb'd

Remember when judging perfomance to compare it to how it arrived, we certianly made an improvement. I have customers (mainly SEAT cup cars) that pay over £3,000 for just 15lb.ft, not £2100 for 40 lb.ft! Althoguh we are getting into the realms of dimishing returns by that point :) Matt

few problems just had my car itb'd

Paul, Just spoke to Nick :) The performance to myself was good (although only tested in the wet) It smells fo fuel as there is NO BREATHER SYSTEM IN PLACE (as nick said he was fitting an aftermarket catch system) On the wiring front bare in mind it is all in conduit and the extra 40cm is so...

Danny, any ideas as to why, that was just a base power run on the rollers.

few problems just had my car itb'd

If Renault let a car leave with such a bad torque curve I would be worried. usually we find that a car with 'bolt on' mods which is not mapped correctly can have odd torque charasteristics, hence the aftermarket management route.

few problems just had my car itb'd

Indeed, we would usually ask questions, however, the previous clio had around 165bhp @fly, and the one that SiTech recently mapped on our V4 made 185bhp and arrived at around 165bhp so I naturally assume clio power figures to be over stated from the factory. Wheel figures are on the dyno...

Yes , 155bhp @ fly. VVT defintaley seems the factor here chaps, roll on tuesday :)

7,200 soft, 7,300 hard. Tyre deformation (backwards calibrated to extract RPM) has cuased it to appear to limit at around 7000

Can anyone (with more direct clio mapping experience) explain the terrible torque curve from the engine as it arrived (graph above) It may help both Nick and myself get his car performing as he wants!

few problems just had my car itb'd

Indeed, on the other car we saw good results without VVT, again however it was down on power when it arrived. Good point on the stock running VVT etc. As I said to nick (I actually said to him when he collected it as he was concerned about the engine and that he had spare, he asked how much I...

few problems just had my car itb'd

If whoever fitted the cams has fitted non VVT cams, does this remove the VVT control/oil system? On the ST170 engine the unit is still there. I don't profess to be a renault expert, but imo an engine is an engine and we have had success with every project we have ever tackled....
  27. M

few problems just had my car itb'd

Feel free to poke holes in a perfectly smooth torque curve, note however power is still on the rise at the limiter....

few problems just had my car itb'd

We never underwwent any GUESSING procedure danny. Nick was unsure what cams he had fitted. unfortunately I do not like alterting cam timing on customers engines without proper knowledge of cam specifics and details... Im starting to think whoeevr fitted the cams has the timing out....
  29. M

few problems just had my car itb'd

I will post a graph tomorrow fo the before and after. Before, the torque curve was ALL over the place, now its as smooth as ever all the way along, in fact im going to nip down to the unit now to get it... back in 10 :)

few problems just had my car itb'd

foxy that may be thecasue, Im starting to think this as well. Nick needs to confirm to us if cams are indeed fitted, first thing will be to try the VVT advance and see if the VE increases...
