I think remaps have their place with all modern cars as they come out of the box tuned for emissions not power. I've always said though that particularly with the 172/82 engine IMO the amount of money you have to spend to get a miniscule power increase isnt justifyable. Fair play the results...
the clio zorsts get loads of water in them for some reason, its the same on the meg, you take them off and 3 pints of water come out of them. Standard one is stainless on the 225 so maybe renault are aware of this as a potential warranty issue
I think buckets are an all or nothing kind of thing, either get two in and strip the rest of the interior or dont bother, I always think buckets look odd if you have like a plush leather/alcantara rear bench
a cupped megane would blitz a normal meg 225 on a track, the original 225 is sooooo not a track focussed car, simply not what it was designed to do, no more than an Audi RS 4 is a track car. As meggerman rightly says a cup chassied meg with the cross drilled brakes etc would be a LOT quicker...
I love EVO, have subscribed for a couple of years now, the superb photography and (some) of the writing and articles they do are fantastic. I think a lot of stuff has to be taken with a pinch of salt, like that fast club article, what really is the point of pitting such unevely matched cars? You...
it did for me in the 172, N/A cars are just too boomy for exhausts, in scoobies or even 225s you can hardly hear the zorst noise in the car even if its shattering windows behind you, prolly to do with the air moving out of the engine a lot faster. I wanted to kill myself after driving all the...
yeah in the caption for that buggy they said "as much fun as it looks" in the text they say "not fun here" hmm okay they also keep changing their minds about how many stars a car gets, the focus RS was the funniest example, after they slated it and then it got popular they backtracked and tested...
yeah tis always the case with renaults, some of the guys on meganesport.net have had lots of probs with the 225 (only 3 or 4) but the bad ones tend to be really bad, just typical renault niggly faults like coil packs and noisy suspension, things that really they should have learnt to do properly...
wasnt expecting the clio to be slower than the VXR on track, trophy even had a higher peak speed so VXR must have been outcornering it. meg 225 trophy was half a second quicker on top gears track so that would make the 225 quicker on track than the 182 trophy...hmmmmm
keep us posted on meganesport.net m8 that engine will be mindblowing in the clio. Oh and use custom mapping if your doing it all from scratch cos as you'l prolly know the sagem ecu is a proper nightmare!!
if I was in your situation m8 ie already own a VX I would get a megane, I cant really see that a clio v6 will give you anything the VX doesnt already. The 225 would be great company to the VX, a total polar opposite car really but might refresh you after giving the VX a workout on the weekends...
deffo get a new soundcard m8 the mic input will work but if your current card doesnt even have a line in it will give you proper crap quality. I have this one the SB live 5.1 which uses the same chips as the top of the range audigy for recording...
I saw a normal clio 3 today and I did think it had grown on me a lot, within a few months of the RS coming out I rekon they will be as popular as the 17/182 specially when they bring the cup out nice motor I rekon
awsome stuff, bit hairy near the beginning looks like you almost rear ended him where that mini span off maybe that looked worse on the vid than it was. A good leason taught to the Sti driver lol no point going to a track day and tickling the car round the track like he looked to be, top vid...
cam profile shifts and alters the valve lift allowing more air/fuel to burn hence more power thats how I understand it, good system for pootling round getting good mpg if you drive below the 4.5krpm
