Was hoping to make Silverstone but the Mrs decided to book my Christmas present to her on that sodding Saturday, so I'll be watching her riding a four legged 1hp....errr....horse instead.
Are you two racing at Donny this year? That's the other one I wanted to try and make.
Re: Sir_Dave's Trophy. The 182 on (nearly) 182k ...
Not been keeping up to speed with this thread. My bad.
Seeeeeee I told you gold and red go together. Ignore Nick, he has a rust coloured M3 for christs sake.....and when it comes to this sort of thing his opinion is nearly always wrong. ;)...
Greasy box? You left your empty KFC bucket under the car didn't you......school boy error!
I don't doubt the slippery bit, its just the car appeared to take off as i've done a few times in Elises in the wet.....with the back trying to rabbit past the front!
Anyway, cracking start Jay. Would...
Sorry i couldn't make it there today. Was driving back from the Peak District. Heard from Dave about the result though. Great work lads! Going to do my best to make a couple of rounds later in the season.
Not so. If you tow a car with an A frame and all four wheels on the ground then you need the front wheels unlocked and it'll essentially steer itself. If we towed it with a proper towbar connection then we'd need to lose the front wheels all together.
All in all its simply a pain in the balls...
People turn rear ends of old cars into trailers all the time after all.....im just not quite sure how we'd stand on the legalities of welding a tow bar on to an old 172 shell and just towing it.
It'll need some sort of braking system for starters....
Phil I can't understand how you don't get the concept of driver preference.
For example, why should Dave change from the OE Trophy suspension to a set of Spacks/BallSteins just because they provide adjustment?
If you speak to these very capable track drivers in these cars with OE suspension...
It take an accident or a very big moment to slow people down. I had a lowish speed one in my old 1.2 when I was 19 (too fast in the wet) and that was enough to slow me down.
It helps that I couldn't actually afford anything faster until I was into my 20's. The thought of the insurance alone...
Over exuberant yoofs will crash anything if the testosterone and laddish company is present and correct. Jumping into a hot hatch so soon is asking for trouble.
New toy.
Fill with mates
Need to prove how quick new toy is to mates.
Etc etc
Actually it makes more sense to do the silly car thing later, once he has got the 'I need to race everything' phase out of his system.
18, with a quickish car. Throw a wet country lane into the equation and....you can see where this is going.
I may be completely mistaken of course. But I...
You make it sound like the more 'adjustable' setup is incorrect. It isn't. Its personal preference. This is the what everyone (as per normal) seems to overlook.
There is no rule book and no right or wrong way when it comes to a track day setup. It all hinges on what you glean from the...
