just bought a shealth from gdi

That isn't very good for K-tec or GDI

    cold air feeds and rain

The original question was concering water in the engine. If it rains there is no issue with the CAf in the grill / fog light. Also, you would have to go through a VERY deep puddle for the water to travel up the CAF, through the air box and into the engine!

Decat - what's needed to fit?

yeh, Silicon or firegum type stuff on the meeting faces will be fine, didn't even put the gasket on one end as it was mangled and I didn't have a new one.

    Synthetic oil!!!!

You get 7bhp more from Synthetic too, maybe that's the difference you're feeling?

Decat - what's needed to fit?

Unless you have access to a ramp and a trusty friend to hand I'd pay the £30 or whatever and get an exhaust place to fit it - JD

    Toyo proxes T1r

No performance tyres should last long, hence why they offer so much grip

    Toyo proxes T1r

I am a big user of F1's, but have had some T1r's fitted recently and while not quite as good, still excellent tyres and much better than Contisports and P-Zero's (Of which I've also used). For the price, T1r's are excellent

Help with replacing Cv boot joint..

Yeh, unless you want to put a crappy velcro one on it's a drive shaft out job - worth the extra effort though. Not too difficult

anyone got a link to a guide of how to remove the acoustis valve?

Should be a new forum rule - If someone asks for something and someone else can find it in 1 search attempt then the person asking should be banned forever

    Black trim around 182 exhaust-urgent!

I've got GDI exhaust, looks really smart with the 182 cut out

    Black trim around 182 exhaust-urgent!

H 75mm X W 150mm if I remember correctly (which would make sense seeing as its a semi circle. Best this to do it cut smaller and take your time so it fits perfect, too big and it's messed up totally!

out comes the wallet :( new driveshaft?

Fitting isn't too difficult, your mate sounds like he knows what he's doing so get him to fit it, else any garage can do this sort of work.

how much for cambelt change etc?

Yeh Cambelt and Pulleys, Aux belt and water pump - Most of the specialists (GDi, Yozza, Ktec, RSTuning etc) charge £450 - £500

decat fitting, anything i need to know?

As long as you have a friend to help on the engine bay end it takes about 1/2 - 1 hr. Ramp access made it easier though!
  20. LRTom

how much for cambelt change etc?

Get it done NOW - last week my engine went bang because of Cam belt tensioner pulley failure - was just 5 yrs old and 43k miles!

What to expect from these mods....

Sounds a little vague that does! I mean, if the parts were all seized up and not flowing properly you'd be losing power? You want the engine to not be overcoming it's own issues! I know what you're saying, a light quick reving engine isn't producing as much torque (think motor bike / F1) but...

What to expect from these mods....

naievity lol. I'm having my engine rebuilt so the head work is costing next to nothing so might as well get it done. Of course Decat makes a difference (have you even cut one open?!), and seeing as I got one for £60 was well worth it! Yes I know TB's or Turbo get more torque, but I want...

What to expect from these mods....

Yeh but the GDi 1500quid doesn't include port/polished head or decat which should give it a little bit more? Especially if I get live remap from RSTuning.

What to expect from these mods....

Hi What would you expect to see from: Panel filter Matched inlet Port/polished head 428 Cat Cams Decat Performance Exhaust Remap This is on a 172. Maybe someone has similar mods so can comment on driveability too? Thanks Tom

    CAM Belt Warning To ALL!

Mine is 4 1/2 yrs, 43k miles. Not a tit for not being able to afford it! lol. As for damage, not too bad just valves. Gives me an excuse to get the cams I want and some head work :) Should run better than ever after!

    CAM Belt Warning To ALL!

So, I couldn't afford the cam belt change in the summer so was going to wait till after Christmas and guess what? Tensioner pully failed, belt skipped a few teeth and bam - one engine in need of work! Lesson to all - Change the cam belt before it is required to save future costs! Tom
