Never felt stopping power like the CL. Having said that, in a 1000 miles of hard use, they nuked my front wheels completely, turned the side of my car brown, and just about destroyed a brand new set of Brembo Max discs (at least 2 thirds gone!). £170 to get the wheels refurbed, 2 days hard elbow...
Fitted one this week with cat, seems like a good quality item. Originally wanted a Yozza, but 2 weeks went by before anyone phoned to take payment, nevermind getting it delivered. Same old story and past experience with Yozzasport made me suspect this would happen. Went with the KTR as they were...
The problem with carpet mats is they look scruffy after 2 weeks. You can get genuine Renault rubber mats for £13 at the dealer for a full set. They are easy to clean, mine are 3 years old and still look like new. Plus I've never had a custom mat that fits properly, and they cost a fortune.
Doesn't seem too loud. I'm pretty well sold on one of these, think I'll be ordering tomorrow.
I phoned K-Tec today and the phone was answered within 2 rings, and I got to speak to someone helpful. Their after sales seems to be good by all accounts. This is a huge plus for me.
"For the higher grade fuel doubters".....but the video shows that 99% of road cars don't benefit one jot? Of course there are engines that do benefit, like big power turbos, but I don't think anyone said otherwise?
As for the "cleaning benefits", I would take all that with a pinch of salt. The...
I would agree with the above. You often find that brakes (and steering etc) on "normal" everyday type cars are over assisted to make them easier to drive. All it means is you have to lean on them a bit harder. I noticed this straight away moving from a 1.2 to a 182.
I've had my 182 from new and so far no major problems, just a couple of electrical gremlins. I do give it death and mechanically it's stood up. Think if I was going to buy a 182 today I would just spend the extra and get a Trophy, Recaros as standard and it will hold it's value better...
Battery life is very poor. Go into the comms manager and make sure anything your don't need is switched off, wi-fi, bluetooth etc. This will help. Charge it off the mains, not USB as it will get a full charge much quicker. You can get an "extended battery" which lasts longer but it makes the...
Cheers mate,
Did you put the car into a garage to get the brakes done? It sounds to me like they used the cheapest pads to get the job done. I had a set of cheapies for a few days and they faded after 2 corners on track.
For trackdays avoid the ones Knockhill run unless you want to take your...
Regarding squeeking, the DS2500 should produce little to no squeeking if you remove the caliper shims, clean everything properly and apply copper slip.
What driving experience was it? Sounds good....
The standard brakes are prone to fade when pushed, but you should get some fun out of them. Is it OE pads you have, or have they been replaced with cheap pads at some stage?
Ferrodo DS2500 for pads, good fade resistance. Brembo HC discs, or...
Yes, MOST frustrating. One wonders if your aux belt snapped within warranty, and you had a "full" dealer service history, would Renault replace your engine?
Generally speaking, the dealers don't know what an aux belt is and won't include it in a service quote. Either that or they get it confused with the timing belt and insist it isn't due until 72k/years. I had a hell of a time finding a dealer that knew anything about it, in the end Parks seemed...
I was under the car today, to me it's not looking healthy:
It's an 05 on 40k, I would replace with a stainless system, but I could do without the expense at the moment. Does it have much longer?
Probably best to get a brake line spanner. They are often corroded and a pig to get off as well, get some plus gas or similar. You don't want to knacker anything by forcing it too much.
Actually, I got the micrometer out and the discs are "only" 2 thirds done, so I've kept them for now. The pads are bedded in and have been round the track with them also. I've got braided lines. I've had a set of DS2500s in the past, it's just I've been spoiled by the awesome power of CL :cool...
