Who setup the ecu initially? Maybe worth giving them a call if you know who it was, sounds like it's just not setup properly, but if it was running fine before hand and has suddenly gone wayward it seems odd. Could be worth getting someone to do a full diagnostic on it, could be a spark...

Yer remember they are quite highly tuned anyway. Not all about peak power as well, it's about getting more power further across the rev range imo, that ultimately relates to a quicker car all round. Or spend it on brakes or suspension as mentioned to again result in a quicker car all round.

Tis ghey, a lot of companies don't supply proper discs, only "recovery" discs which can't be used in the normal way like std XP discs. You could try someone else's disc, but then it's likely not to work with your licence key, etc. Have you tried safe mode yet? And doing the usual scans, etc?

Build quality on R26 is the same as the 197, ie much better than the Mk2 Clio.

Could always try the Norton tools, sometimes they get lucky. Try loading it in safe mode and remove any recent programs / updates.
