SHould declare mods really - if you crash itd be pretty simple for the insurance to void your claim and say you didnt inform them. But then again insurance can be expensive for a lot of people. Your mods are basically cosmetic only so you shouldnt have too much trouble. Do a search on here for...
sh*t I beat all you young uns...Im 31 in a few months! Guess Im not ready for a grown-up car with air con and air bags yet. If its any consolation I did buy it when I was 26.
MOT doesnt require a spare and there is no legal requirement to carry one. The only thing is that if you do keep a spare, it must have legal tread otherwise you will fail the test. A lot easier just not to have one in the first place!
AA have got me home with a puncture before when I had no...
Just been thinking about this myself recently...not replacing the Clio, as Id never do that, but just getting another motor, a reasonably quick one to lug stuff around in, hence it has to be an estate; and second hand ; either
Cheap Volvo T5
Not so cheap Audi S4 Avant
Scooby wagon...
Yes 449 Sports Blue. Or Bleu Sport as some paint books have it. Sometimes known as Williams Blue, even though it changed to Monaco Blue on the phase 3 16v/Williams. You can tell which is which by putting an early and late valver or Willy next to each other. The Sports Blue looks a bit dull in...
Just about everywhere, they come with Clio specific bases that you have to order. If you want quality though, look out for proper German ones made by Mattig. About a hundred quid a set but streets ahead in build quality.
Well Ive been through a year-old Williams gearbox in pretty short order. Clutch is number 2 at the moment, first one gave out on lap 2 of the Nurburgring. The one at the moment is a carbon semi-paddle design I think.
Good on you, it must be good to see it come together...and like you say, if you can do it yourself, why pay anyone else to do it - even if it does end up costing you almost the same! One thing though - surely the standard 1 bar MAP sensor will be very touch and go? A T25 will blow 10-12psi...
On a Willy, a head job like that seems to work better than on a 16v. It will be higher up the revs youll see the gains though, but therell be more oomph all round. Just that with this sort of traditional tuning you wont ever get huge gains.
Or a pair of long nose pliers with thin round section ends; plug them in to two opposing holes of the locknut, if they wont undo with just hand pressure, then use molegrips on these to get some leverage. Then replace them all with a new set of locknuts that you have got the key for.
LOL Ben who needs mirrors anyway. I always rated my phase 1s better than 2s anyway, but they werent quite small and useless enough for meso Ive ditched them and got a pair of Mattig cup mirrors going on there now...similar in size to one of those hand-held mirrors that dentists use to see the...
Same as everyone else really...most valvers/Willys have had this problem at some time or another and it happens for a variety of reasons. Mine was down to a problem with the coolant temp sensor - telling the ECU it was cold and needed choke when it was hot, and that it was hot and needed less...
Not sure about that one...I didnt know that there was any specific law that deals with car neons in general, apart from perhaps that you might cause a distraction to other road users, the same sort of obscure kind of law that would prevent you from having a car done entirely in chrome plate -...
BHP isnt really the issue with a Williams - what you need to do to make your mind up is go in a standard Willy and then go in something like Leighs with the full head treatment and higher lift cams. And even better if you are used to a standard valver and one with head work and hotter cams...
Never heard of hub centric ones, cos surely that would have to be tailored to your exact hub size and even wheels with the exact same PCD and offset will have a different size actual mounting face even if its just a couple of mm?
Anyway the rule is dont buy cheap spacers. Always buy German...
Although compression can be meant as the capability of the engine to maintain a good seal in each cylinder. It really depends what youre talking about, the context of compression. If you have problems with your piston rings or your head gasket, you will lose compression because the pressure...
You can just stick a pair of steely spares on the front and leave the 17s on the back if you want. Its only the front wheels that matter and to be honest having bigger wheels on the back will help to keep the front end down when you launch. Use about 5000 revs when you launch, smoke the tyres a...
LOL seeing some of those pictures make me wince like when I eat ice cream thats too cold. but still, top marks to all of them, simply for actually doing something to their Clios. Its not supposed to be a competition to see whos got the most superior and subtle taste in mods; if you mod it how...
LOL good call Nicky.
Itll be sending a signal to the ECU that shows more airflow, hence the ECU commands more fuel. At certain points in the revs this blanket increase in fuelling may slightly improve response, at others it will lessen it by over-richening the mixture. Without knowing the...
If its 50 quid then buy it. For a grand, no way. Let me say that again. NO WAY< LEAVE IT ALONE!!! YOu can pick up a better condition one for less than that if youre lucky and certainly for around the same money and a bit more, you can get a good valver nowadays.
If youre handy and have the...
Yeah if the rest of the paint is fairly new and you can do the donkey work yourself, taking the tailgate off and delivering it, youll find a local sprayer to do the job cheap. As above really, if you need to ask how its done, you need to get a pro to do it. Assuming you want a good finish. Ive...
LOL its all crazy talk!
First things first Im sure there are plenty of Clios that could out handle a 2.0 turbo charged rally car. By which I assume you mean not the actual rally stage car, but the roadgoing version. The size of the engine and the induction method have little to do with the...
Leigh has the old school Prima quad rears on they have two (I think) round lamps in each side. They definitely arent made any more and had to be sprayed. Hes got more individual lamps on that Willy than any Clio in the world - Morette quads up front, quad fogs in the bumper, and quad rears as...
