its to do with the torsion in the rear torsion bar, twists the outer wheel up when the inner is under load, thats why you see 106 guts and 172s on three wheels on track days!
Im selling one if your intrested m8, had it fitted to a mk2 172, its the only engine mode really worth doing apart from sserious engine work. Gives a good torque improvement mid range. 60 quid if you want it, will be taking it to FCS
Your experience was just about the same as mine with my old 172 m8, fantastic car, built like a kit car. Never got the knocking issues or rattles sorted on mine either. I got a megane 225 (Glutten for renault punishment lol) my insurance is about 100 quid cheaper on the meg which was a nice surprise
I would guess that the ESP will limit your throttle as the ESP wil estimate how much grip you have available and limit the throttle level accordingly. Iirc the light flashes when the traction control comes in so the ESP could well be acting without the light flashing. Either way turn it off. IMO...
my 172 pads did 22k befoer I changed them and they still had a fair bit on I guess the abs makes life abit easier on pads.
Theres a guide on changing pads tho m8, Im a disaster when it comes to mechanical stuff but I managed it ok, Ill never use a garage to do anything like that agian
