    New member!

Welcome, fairly new on here myself and very very glad I joined. Its worth becoming a fully paid up memeber as the guides are very useful and some decent parts turn up via the classifieds.

    172 vs 182

I had this problem last month and in the end I opted for a 172. I think it all depends what you want from your car and what you intend to do with it? I couldnt justify the extra cost of buying a 182 for the extra 10bhp, different wheels(nicer wheels imo) and two tail pipes, especially as I knew...

£2,000 Budget for improvements / mods... What would you buy??

Cheers for all the info, just wondered if you could elaborate a bit on the new MOT laws or point me in the right direction(link). Its a bit concerning if they can dictate small detail such as steering wheels and seats:S Thanks.

£2,000 Budget for improvements / mods... What would you buy??

Just goes to show the huge difference in opinions... I think spending £2k on a holiday is laughable, a good friend of mine has just spent £10,000 on a 3 week holiday to California and I think he should be sectioned under the mental health act:rasp:. The idea of holidays, is a total waste to me...

£2,000 Budget for improvements / mods... What would you buy??

Sounds good mate, just what I was after really, a nice list(with brands/specs) and reason for mods:). These brembo HC discs and Ds2500 pads have been mentioned a fair bit, I'll def' be looking into getting a set of these. Since getting the car home I totally agree with all the comments about...

    8x16's, will ET34 be OK on a 172?

How low(roughly) and what offset you running?

£2,000 Budget for improvements / mods... What would you buy??

Just wondered what coilovers you're running? I see why people are saying this, but I'm interested to see what these ''better cars'' are? And I'm being genuine, not sarcastic! I sat down and trawled the autotrader trying to decide what car I'd get and the clio 172 seemed a great option.

£2,000 Budget for improvements / mods... What would you buy??

Fair comment and I see your point mate, but I'm not too worried about seeing the money again, I spent far more on my Astra MK3 and only saw about 60% back when I broke it for parts. Its more about enjoying the car.

£2,000 Budget for improvements / mods... What would you buy??

Why? Im sure there must loads of 172's on here with a fair old whack spent on them! The cars all good, cam and aux' belts done this time last year, discs look reasonably new and brakes are VERY effective. I take it inlets, remaps and exhausts are no good then? Do you mean tuition time on a track?

£2,000 Budget for improvements / mods... What would you buy??

What would you do brake wise, discs and pads or bigger brakes(new calipers etc)? I thought about it, but I only picked it up this Saturday and it would be a shame to part ways so soon;), surley sorting my 172 to out pace a 182 would be more fun:rasp: I was thinking maybe something along these...

Made the change from Vauxhall to renault : )

I finally picked up the 172 this Sat' after it needed a new rear spring, shock and two new cv boots(all covered by warranty). It was totally worth the wait though, very impressed by how well it goes and handles as standard. Sorry the pic isn't the best. IMGIMG

£2,000 Budget for improvements / mods... What would you buy??

Hi, I'm after peoples wish lists and recommendations:D. If you had £2,000 - £2,500 to spend on a completely standard 172, what would be on your list to make the 172 an even better fast road car?

Made the change from Vauxhall to renault : )

Thanks for the warm welcome peeps. Been looking for a Clio for a while and I really wanted a black one, so I was chuffed when the right one came up... Lets see how long until the novelty wares off and the constant cleaning becomes a chore!! I had a MK3 astra 1.8 sport and converted it to 2L...

    8x16's, will ET34 be OK on a 172?

Hi, As per title really, I'd like to fit some 8x16 wheels to my ph2 172 and the offset listed for the wheels I'd like is ET34. Would this be ok, as I'm also going to lower it(NOT loads tho). I have also seen the same wheels from another supplier with the option of ET40, would this be better...

Made the change from Vauxhall to renault : )

Hi, I'm new to this site, but have been a member on a Vauxhall forum with my previous project and I've now made the leap from a vauxhall to Renault owner. And I can now confirm I am the proud owner of a Black Clio Sport 172, well almost.... I collect it Tuesday next week and can't wait to get...
