i wouldn't bother with the Sb-400. if you're going to get one, get a 600 at least.

i think they'll write it off. It needs a new door, rear 1/4 and sill section. Sill section will be the part to write it off imo.

Also the D70 has the i-TTL feature which allows you to use a nikon SB-600/800 flash off the camera. (sb-800 will control other sb-600s aswell)

it seems to perform better on the indoor shots....but the outdoor shots it seems equal. I much prefer my D70s over the D40 i had before. The ergonomics are so much better, Top LCD and the extra weight really helps when you start attatching longer/heavier lenses.

Do some research, find out how many shutter acutations it's had, what condition is it in? The D70 is a better camera than the D40 in my opinion. Older though.

you won't notice a normal wide angle on a cropped sensor camera...hardly anyway unless it's a superwide or a fish eye

D50/70 over a D40 imo. I ended up changing from a D40 to a D70s after only 3 months, it worked out better in the long run.

77mm won't fit a D40. IIRC they are 52mm (says on the end of the lens)
