As Chris said. Shutter accutations, i managed to pick up my D70s with less than 8k accutations for £265 but i think i got a bargain, just look out for general condition and don't be afraid to ask questions!

the only way you will stop that is by buying a bigger memory card and keeping them all on it, rather than formating it.

i don't shoot canon so it would be no good.

can i ask one thing? Why are you only looking at argos. Go to a proper camera shop or buy online. You can get the D40 kit for around £240 now days, 55-200vr is around £115 so for £355 you can get a D40 with the 18-55 kit lens and 55-200vr. Against from argos you pay £490 and don't even get the...

i think i'm going to go for the 70-200 f/2.8, i won't be able to afford it for when i'd hoped so i think i may end up renting one for a week.

have you seen the prices of 2nd hand nikon 80-200 f2.8s? still in the region of £800

I guess the 70-200 is a more flexible lens and the more sensible option. Still not 100% sure though. Any other suggestions?

I have 2 lenses in mind. Will be shooting sports (motor/water) Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 (i'm worried that there won't be enough length with this) Sigma 100-300 f/4 ex HSM Both will probably be 2nd hand and cost round about the same. Which do you suggest. Nikon fit btw.

why not? It has better optics than the 70-300. Should be a very very capable lens

they are going for a touch over £200 on ebay from hongkong brand new. I also saw one go for £175 the other day

no hsm 70-300 but they've released a 18-200 os hsm now which can be had for around £150-200
