But surely the clock and other things would reset? I've just beared with it for now as its just a little annoyance, sometimes it can go for a week without resetting then other times it's every day!

From what I've read on here about this sort of issue its to do with gearbox oil or gearbox on its way out! Don't hold me to it though because I'm probably very wrong!

Keep the 172 and put a different exhaust on it mate. People on here don't seem to like the twin exhaust look but its what you like and not anyone else really :D

My girlfreind has the same problem with her 1.4 VW Polo, would it be the same thing to solve?

Find out about the if it is the battery first mate, like I said, mines new and it still does it!

Well mine only resets when the engine has started, if I just start the electrics it doesn't reset :s

For some reason when I havn't used the car for 24 hours the trip computer resets itself when the engine starts! I've used the search funcion and people say its a battery problem but a new battery has being fitted a few months ago, also when I just turn the electrics on the trip still remembers...
