The cup is the lightweight version, has most of the luxury stuff deleted.. The cambelt and aux belt will be due, check service history as its an expensive job. The headgaskets are not a common problem but do all the normal checks. The 172cup also has no abs which some see as being controversial.
It could be from the air conditioning, if youve had it on a lot then park the car the condenstation built up on the pipes and in the system is vented down there near the manifold. It normally sits in the undertray then when the angle of the car is changed it all leaks out.
Not all of them had the shift light, despite what renault say. They all had a cat1 alarm fitted as standard unless they are an import.
It will be one of the last ph1 172s so will have the twin lambda sensor cat and it will be a bit more to tax than the majority of them.
I went from a mk2ph1 1.2 8v too, i was suprised how different everthing felt, heavier accelerator/clutch, slick gearchange, even the switches and knobs..
I can remember that, think its just a case of cutting a big hole in the arch liner in the right spot for the air duct to pass air over the inside of the wheel. carbon canister may have to be removed on drivers side, theres not much in the way on the other.
The 172mk1 cup racers had these...
Both of those things sound normal mate. Rough running is due to engine trying to keeps its emissions low, should be fine once warmed up. The ticking is just the exhaust cooling down, a lot of cars with big engines do this. Once warmed up it should idle at 750-800rpm, and about 800-850rpm with...
With great difficulty. The real ones have a completly different subframe with much stronger and longer suspension arms. They also have massive, stronger hubs that support the big brakes. The rear axle is also completly different. They have wide rear multiple suspension arms attached to a...
I doubt the strut top mount fix will do anything. It could be top suspension mount bearings, steering rack, steering column, the list goes on, need to find out where its coming from.
It will fit, the 182 rear axles are slightly different, they are strengthened at the bottom of the spring area and have a slightly thicker rear roll bar.
Acceleration will be slightly improved, top speed in each gear will be slightly reduced. The later ph2/182 boxes dont have a speedo sensor built into them which the ph1 172 needs. Theres also a few slight differences such as the oil breather being different. It should still all fit though. I...
I didnt think ph1s had acoustic valves. Mines got that pipe going into the fuel rail, as above i thought it was some sort of breather. Ive never seen another ph1 172 with the pipe fitted though..
I can see the idea in it but cant see it making much difference (although a lot will say every little helps). Your better off getting your inlets matched.
