In all serious-ness, It's possible to cart the family around in a 3-door, but it's a pain if it's your only means of transport. 5-doors are definitely a boon with kids, especially when they're playing up!
I'd suggest you get a cheap family run around (I'd imagine a mk5 5-door Fiesta is cheap to...
My parents had a 1.4 340 YEARS ago, and i remember it being a slow, boaty, heavy old barge with armchair seats!!
Awesome idea for a conversion! Like an AE86 on the cheeeeeap. Almost. :)
Got stuck on the bits with the commando and the 'indestructible thing' but has proved a really enjoyable way to spend a hangover weekend! :)
Everything is stunning:

- Borneo
- Nepal
- The scale of 'Path of Light'
- etc, etc.

If the rumours are true, then it's a sad day and people will continue to play/ mod CoD4!

In the MX my hands would foul against my legs when turning tight corners. I felt I...
I wasn't shooting you down, just correcting what I believed to be wrong. The Elise is not the best all-round daily driver, agreed?
Now, re: the MX-5 vs. S2000 debacle.
I understand the handling/ hard riding argument, thanks for clearing that up for readers who may not know, though!
To me, the...
Having owned an S2000 and still own an S1 Elise, I feel qualified to comment on your post.
"Giving up on a few comforts" - If the OP is happy not having:
- carpet
- a heater that de-mists the windscreen
- a stereo that you can hear above the road noise
- no carrying capacity for even weekend...
ABS or not, if you drive like an arse you *will* crash.
Keep your car tip-top, don't skimp on decent rubber, drive according to the conditions and you *should* be fine... ;)
^ This.
Replacing all the bits that fail is keeping me on my toes! *
* I bought my car with some easily sorted 'issues' so until the car is perfect, I'm not modding it... **
** Apart from fitting Eibachs to replace the shocking Apex thast were on it when I bought it!
You appear to have got a bargain there nby!
Get the bits above sorted - very easy, if pricey for the suspension refurb - then check the belts have been done (they may have been, but I can't be arsed to read the whole thread)...
Then drive the bloody thing, don't sell it!
