Same on my 97 RSi... But they are piss easy to change if they snap and cost sod all from Renault so who cares. Might buy a spare for the boot thinking about it! How sensible would that be!
Get some reverse threaded taps and drill into the nut and then screw in the reveresed thread taps until tight, continue to turn and it will unscrew the nuts!

Mine did it for a while! Then it fixed itself? Lots of people have had trouble... East to sort if I remember! Someone will remember the name of the part, began with a "P"...
There was a post recently and they were included/built into to the outside lights. I think they may have had "ring lights" for the side lights like the BMW ones. They were very cool!!!
But running a pipe to the front of the car where the air is cooler is surely a benifit, as you are getting a direct feed of cool air which takes a straighter path than some original box setups? :oops:
