The drains are located on the inner sill panels. To see them you would have to be underneath your car looking outwards. They are quite small, about 10mm across and are located at the front, middle and rear. (both sides)

Kent! Long way to come for me to have a listen, init!
Ask you local dealer to remove the heat shields and then let you test it to see if the noise has gone. Worth a try. As I have said though, it might not be the same noise.

It will more than likely be blocked drains on the inner sills. There are three of them each side. They are usually blocked with underseal from the factory but do become blocked with debris over a period of time. Use a screw driver to open them up and watch the water pour out!
Hope that helps...
As it can take some time for these drain holes to become blocked, it would be a gradual process. Therefore not noticeable until the sill panels fill up with water.

Fair point JonC. Even with clean fuels, engine management systems etc, exhaust still CARBON up. This quite often stops the baffles from rattling once they have become coated with carbon.

The water noise you are getting from your sunroof could be due to the glass not having an air deflector on it. If the noise is present when the car has been standing in the rain or after washing it, and is ONLY present for a short while, it will be the sunroof glass. I have a 98 S...
It is unlikely for both rear wheel bearings to fail within week of each other as there is no link. Its also NOT impossible. It is very difficult to locate a wheel bearing noise when they are in the early stage of failure, as the noise generally is not present off load. (Jacking up the car and...

Hi
We had a 172 at work, with a buzzing noise @4000 +/- 50 rpm. We spent nearly 20 hours trying to source the cause. To cut a very long story short, we eventually traced it to the exhaust heat shields. We found that one of the bolts in the 3rd from front heat shield, was touching the body...

Wheel bearings can be quite difficult to diagnose when they are in the early stages of failure. The noise is a rumble/groaning noise and the pitch will alter with road speed. Also, the pitch may alter when turning corners etc.
I have not come across a complete bearing failure in the last 10...

Hi Frosty.
The pinking sensor (knock sensor) is actually quite good.
It monitors all cylinders as they fire. If a detonation (pinking) is detected on any cylinder or multiple cylinders, that cylinders firing is retarded by -7 degrees. It then monitors the cylinder every 48 revs, if no...
Sorry guys, cant think what tensioner maybe broken or missing or cause a gearbox shake.
All I can say is, they obviously dont think its too serious, as they have booked you in on the 23rd. Be interested though, on what they do replace or repair.

This is quite normal during ABS regulation but if there is vibration and juddering through the steering wheel as well, then you more than likely have warped front discs.
The ABS system is and has to be very sensistive and should be no cause for alarm.
If you understand exactly how it...
